Decided to check out that golf course.....as I have not heard of it before. Interesting.....they change the direction of play every other day. Never heard of that done before. Good menu. Might be a good location for our Deer Habitat annual golf and Habitat Summit meeting? . Would be a fair location for a few of us to attend. I think it's a 9 hole course? Not sure. I know nothing about golf. It is in a pretty odd spot for a golf course IMO. Surrounded by farms with plenty of Amish in the area. There were a bunch of folks there tonight golfing. We've eaten there a few times now and have been happy every time. Yep...it is a 9 hole course. Not many of those built these days. Strange with the reverse every other day. Looks like a good menu and nice place. It's got a relatively high "slope rating".....which is determined by the course difficulty. Courses with a 130 or so slope rating are about the degree of difficulty I like in a golf course. Not too easy.....nor too tough.

Hey all, I'm taking my daughters to the Lake Geneva area of WI. I've never been to Wisconsin even after living in Michigan all my life I never went over to the other side of the lake.
Any interesting/good places to eat over there that families would enjoy? Unique experiences?

Have fun. I've only been to Lake Geneva once or twice in my life, so I have no suggestions for you. That area is a "high rent district" so be prepared

I have lived in Wisconsin my whole life and have never been to Lake Geneva. I always thought that was just for douche bag Flatlanders to spend their money at and go to due to its location to the boarder.

I'm not a high fluting person and I sure as hell am not from Chicago. I'm just looking to have a good time with my kids after the shitting 14 months we've had.

Go and enjoy yourselves If the kids like fishing, you could swing over to Kenosha and do a salmon fishing charter You could drive north to Devil's Lake near Baraboo and go rock climbing and/or scuba diving. From there you could go to WI Dells (e.g. hell) for all kinds of crazy kid stuff. www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g60022-Activities-Lake_Geneva_Wisconsin.html

Lake Geneva has some reasonably priced downtown establishments. The golf courses a tad trendy. Very busy on weekends. The parks are nice.

Blue Ox sandwich shop near the Burnsville Mall has perhaps the best buffalo chicken sandwich I've ever had in my life, if you're into that sort of thing.

Neither of us felt like cooking and making the house hot tonight, so we ran up to Double Eagle Golf Course/Bar/Grill. They have southern fried shrimp for a Thursday special. We've been meaning to go there for the shrimp, but we rarely go out during the week. It was really good. We'll go back. The place can't be too far from Wade's new Shangri-La We went back to Double Eagle yesterday. Wife had a chicken sammich and I had a burger. The wife said it was the best chicken sammich she's had for a long time. My burger was also very good. The place was quite busy with both golfers and diners. The only two people working were the owners. They couldn't get any employees to work on the holiday weekend. They are both disgusted with the gooberment handouts keeping people at home instead of working. Side note, we talked to a young guy in LP about the course at D.E. He was a golf pro in California for a few years. He says it's a pretty course but not super challenging....FWIW

Went to the Bowling Barn in Osakis today. Really good. Wish we would have gone sooner. We did do take out during the covid shutdown, but we hadn't been inside the place until today. It's very clear that a woman is running the show. Clean, neat, well decorated, awesome service and food. We'll be back.
How can a guy argue with bacon, macaroni and cheese on a burger?

In the past I've suggested dining at Thunder Lodge in Long Prairie. In good conscience, I feel it necessary to now revoke that advice with extreme prejudice.
We've been avoiding the place for the most part for a number of months, mainly because one of the owners is a huge douchebag who goes out of his way to make you feel uncomfortable being there. Tonight, we went because a young couple we have known since moving here got married and had their reception there. We felt really bad for the couple because the food provided by Thunder Lodge was hands down the worst wedding food either of us has ever had. A guy could have opened a can of Chef Boyardee and been ahead. If you're passing through the area, don't waste your dollars at Thunder Lodge. Stop at Midway a few miles south instead.

Bringing back another old thread. We ate at Herbie's in Flensburg for the first Friday of Lent a couple weeks ago. Fantastic. Skipped last week, then did take out this week. The take out orders were fresh and more than we could eat (we'll finish it up in the morning). Herbie's Lenten fish fry is about as close to a good Wisconsin fish fry as you're gonna get in central MN.
