There's a bunch of volunteer beans growing in my corn. Seems like a cool problem.

To replicate the scenario in your pic I just use a grain drill and mix rr corn and soybeans and drill every other opening. My corn planter ended up grinding my seed this year cause I didn't have the right plate so I replanted corn and soybeans this way. I will post pics once it germinates.

Please post pics of your corn food plots. I planted 3-4 acres a couple weeks ago. I'd give my third nut to have a plot like that!

My corn is up. The grren areas are where the corn stood for two years without weed control. I suspect the greenest strips were the bean rows in the two year old corn. free pic hosting siteA bit of a browse line is showing up, but this is/was a wintering area.

Here's mine, broadcast, dragged and then packed, planted 5-15. It was some seed that was 3 or 4 years old I got from my BIL.

I didnt get any pics of my plots today.
The grasses are tall as hell, and I wasnt going to drive up to the plots in fear of smashing a fawn. And secondly, I wasnt wearing permethrin treated clothes. The ticks are HORRIBLE!!!

I was at my place Sunday and Snapped this photo. Corn and Beans are up and so are grasses in my field. I sprayed my beans but I'm using Dual II Magnum a pre-emergent on my corn/Sorghum mix. I can see I am going to have some grass problems with my Corn/sorghum mix. I made a mistake by not adding Gly to my Dual II mix as I would have gotten a better burn down. Lets all hope for rain.

I am extremely thankful for the .75 we got Friday night up there. Forecast was blank for 10 days, and I got damn lucky for once.

What are your guys thoughts on how corn/beans are growing compared to average years? Is it me or does it seem things are behind? The cool weather probably has not helped.

I have no idea. I cant remember year over year. I just know the saying, "Corn knee high by the 4th of July". If I have that, I feel like a good farmer. I have to believe if we get any rain, that wont be an issue as its a month away still.

I feel they are behind a bit, but some of the grasses have headed out earlier?
