The corn/bean plot is growing pretty good now that we've had some heat. I'm glad I sprayed one last time. I also have noticed some of the streaking that Freeborn mentioned.

Looks great Riggs! Do the beans produce full pods mixed in with the corn?

Are you using your grain drill for planting and just staggering rows?
Do you think they are draw to this plot more than two separate plots? I rotate corn and soybeans every year and the deer tend to browse along the corn edge and the soybeans. They can come in and out of the corn as they please.

When deer are comfortable they will feed in an open bean field. As they get pressured I prefer having the mix for better cover. I'm trying to stagger my plots a bit by adding cover and variety to meet all their needs as you can see from this plot. free photo website hostingWith the drill you can do any row configuration you want. I always mix the seeds together in the drill rather than trying to run individual rows. That's why in the beginning it looks spotty but as it grows everything feels in nicely.

My corn must be tasty. This picture is where a 'deer sidewalk' enters a plot so its skewed but you would think they could find something else to eat.

I did not specify which species for Intensive Harvest! Besides, I like bacon. When do we start?

Deer should be moving into the cornfields very soon when it reaches that height. I feel many bucks hide in the cornfields all summer. Drink out of a ditch and eat out of adjacent bean fields at night.

Corn Looks great and allot cleaner than mine. Yep the deer should be moving into the corn very soon. Hopefully my beans hold up with the deer bedding right next to them.

I sprayed mine today (about a week and a half late). Looking pretty good, chest high at the highest and average is about waist high. It's crazy what a tree can do to shade/suck nutrients/water from your plants! Ankle to knee high around the damn thing...
