I might have one or two extra Kerr crabs to spare. Their not the size I would want to sell somebody, but should take off in growth next year!

I emailed Connor today asking if he has any pears he would recommend for zone 3 in northern Wisconsin. Might try a few.

He has had some disappointments and a bit of success. I went off the list on SLN. The pears I chose are all suppose to be good to -50. We will see how well they grow at my place. I have had good success with SLN trees but some have died. It's hard to understand why some trees do well for some and not others. My HC for example have done very well while others have had poor results. Allot of it can be site specific as I have had varieties do well on one location while the same tree planted elsewhere on my place have done poorly.

Guys,
If you've had any fire blight issues just be ready for any issues with pears. They seem to be way more susceptible than apples. Does SLN make notes on FB resistance?

Connor recommended I try Cabot, Ely, and Schroeder for my zone. Has anyone tried these before? I ordered 1 of each.

I have land in rusk county Wisconsin, which is in either zone 3 or 4 depending on what usda map you look at. I've planted a few pear trees there from SLN and last weekend I checked them out again and saw that I have an Ely pear still growing as well as a Clark pear. I would guess that they are about 4 years old right now, so they have seen some rough weather. Neither has produced fruit yet, but hopefully they will in a few years.

Bummer, I don't see a Luscious pear available at SLN. I was hoping to start with that and incorporate others on their list. Anyone know a good source for Luscious?
