I have a bunch of varieties that need a year before I would feel right getting rid of. Frickin rabbits in town have my number and have pillaged my nursery. This is all I have for next year. fireside red baron liberty x2 chestnut crab x2 Bunnies can really raise hell with fruit trees. The last two years I've noticed an increase in the number of bunnies around here. I guess it's time to start shooting 'em

I did a search for SLN and this thread came up.
Looks like SLN is open for 2023 orders if anybody was interested.

You had to say something didn't you... I'd wait on buying a Redstone Canyon Gold if you were planning on it SLN sent some fruit and leaves in to be DNA tested. I saw the fruit. Another orchard commented that they had heard RCG was really NW Greening. The fruit SLN sent in looked identical to my NW Greening fruit. Could be a coincidence of course. Lots of apples look like each other. At any rate, I wouldn't buy one until the results are in.

My Violi’s in the bottoms looks great but no fruit yet. Wanted one for the hills. I’ll be at 48 in the hills next spring. I’m quitting at 50 damnit!!

The deer seem to really like the All-Winter Hangover. I tried it and it wasn't too bad. I've got a bunch of pics of does on their hind legs trying to get these apples off. I did shake the tree once and it rained apples. So they will fall if given some help.

Sometimes I kind of chuckle at the nurseries selling these "wildlife crabs". I give them credit for finding some wild trees that hold fruit into winter and then grafting them to sell, but the number of deer guys who go nuts for them is kind of humorous. Within a 10 mile radius I can find over a dozen ditch crabs currently holding fruit, and with plenty of deer tracks and crap under them.

You guys must have more wild ones up there because I don't see that here. It's always in someone's yard.

I'd say one big reason for that is WI maintains their ditches/ROWs far more intensively than does MN. I haven't seen anybody spraying noxious weeds in the ROWs here for at least 7 or 8 years, and that includes State and County roads. Many township roads haven't had any ROW maintenance for years. If the first 8' gets mowed once a year, that'd be about it. You would likely need to get to a less densely populated and poorer part of WI that still has at least halfway decent soil before you'd find many ditch crabs/apples (like maybe Crawford or Grant counties).
