Many years ago I had a wisdom tooth pulled. The dentist twisted and pulled you could hear that thing cracking and popping. He pulled and pulled and kept telling me to hold my head down. He ended up putting a strap around my head to the chair to hold it down. He worked up a sweat pulling and when it finally came it made one hell of a crack and pop. I couldn't believe how long the root was on that damn thing.

Had my wisdom teeth cut out. Put under. Never felt a thing. No pain, no recollection. Pulling it out sounds like torture.

That doesn't sound like fun at all. This one was done "professionally" by an oral surgeon. I think most of what they do is put people under with general anesthesia and yank it out. That costs 3-4 times what just numbing it up and yanking it out costs. I told them to numb it and yank it. It's rather interesting to hear a loud crack when he reefed it one direction and then back the other way. Came right out. I could understand why people don't want to hear that crack It would take a female oral surgeon some time in the gym working on upper body strength to yank a tooth out I think. I remember that cracking sound when I had impacted wisdom teeth removed. The assistant was a rookie. Her face turned green in front of me. She ran outside and threw up in the snow bank. The receptionist who’d worked at the dental office for years jumped in and took her place while he finished removing them. I had all 4 removed at once. Three were impacted. My face swelled up pretty good for a week or so but , I only wanted to go through that once. The only other time I remember somebody turning green was when Rod Carew swallowed tobacco on Monday night baseball and had to leave the game.

Our insurance deductible is just starting over, so this cost will be out of pocket. I wasn't going to pay for an anesthesiologist, plus multiple nurses, plus the oral surgeon.

My how stories change for old farts on a deer hunting forum who are tired of winter, self included! I had 4 wisdom teeth plus two extra teeth pulled, almost 50 years ago. Since I had extra teeth, am I considered ‘special’?

I just had an implant put in. That's pretty fun. Getting all my dental work out of the way while I still have insurance.

It's kinda amazing what good oral health can mean to other health issues. I never considered such things years ago. Sure seeing it now. Brush them teeth boys.

I've always taken care of my teeth. Brush twice daily, floss multiple times a week, get them cleaned twice a year, fillings done as needed. My folks made sure we had good dental and medical coverage. A guy can't change his genes (yet anyway)

I gotta say...I'm not looking forward to any more tooth extractions. Swelling got worse today and it's even less pleasant to deal with than the day after. Dr. Google tells me that's common, so I'm not going to worry about it. I'll be happy when it gets healed over.
