I am sure several of you remember "Nova" from Fishing Minnesota/Hotspot Outdoors forums several years ago. Very avid duck and deer hunter. Passionate fishing on Mille Lacs.
Nova(Tim Kisch) has terminal cancer. Treatment is over. He is now unable to do anything but get up to go to the bathroom. He is such a wonderful man. We became very good friends by meeting on the Fishing MN forums. Its hard to ask how he is doing, knowing that each time I reach out, the news isnt going to be better. I dont do well in these situations. I never can find the perfect words. Fuck. This sucks. Pray for Tim.

Boy. More cruddy cancer news. A second cousin I havent seen for 20ish years, I ran across recently. Crazy how so many years pass and you dont cross paths in the same area forever.
She is a 3 time cancer survivor. Saw her tonight again, she has spots in her abdomen and has chemo starting soon. As kids we climbed in the hayloft through the hay bales. So fun catching up. She is still the sweetheart I remember.
Funny story. Last time I remember seeing her was at bonnie and clydes in clitherall. Seriously 20 to 25 years ago. I was with a couple buddies duck hunting that weekend. She came in and we talked briefly. She was a looker in her day. My buddies were pissed off I didnt introduce them to her. I remember telling them i would never subject my family to you guys. Serious lollll.
Good luck Christine!

Yet another reminder to enjoy every day.
A guy I graduated H.S. with and went to Canada fishing a few times with passed away a couple days ago. We haven't been in touch for years, so I have zero idea what happened. The obit says a "brief illness"...

I'd said I'd been busy. I've been walking 2.5-3 hours a day since May. 3.5-4 mph pace here in the hills. I've dropped 35 pounds so far. I'm hoping to surprise the doctor at my annual physical in January. I've made the commitment to walk 2 hours after dinner in the evenings. I'm feeling a lot better. I've had to put 3 new notches in the belt. Diet wise I've cut out red meat to one day a week, boneless chicken a couple, fish the rest. No potato chips. Blueberries instead. More salads and veggies. The down days were when I had to go to Cape Cod and Maine so driving left little room for walking. Once I drop another 20 pounds I'll drop back to 10,000 steps a day. Thus winter I'll use the indoor bike instead. I can't wait to see the look on the doctor's face when I see her in January. I know she doubted me when I said I'd lose the weight.

I dropped 23 pounds. I cut out bread and the butter that goes with it. My red meat consumption has probably increased. No sweets 95% of the time.

Attending the funeral today of one of the first members of our deer camp. As my son said he is and will always be a treasured memory of camp, and he will be missed.

41 straight days of over 20,000 steps. I've lost a total of 54 pounds since May. The hills are getting a lot easier now. I've got the diet thing figured out. Blueberries are taking the place of the ice cream, potato chips, breakfast sandwiches I used to frequently eat. The sun is going down earlier so I don't have a lot of time to fiddle around after dinner before I head out to walk for 90-120 minutes. I'm still walking an hour in the morning and at lunch. I've got 6 more pounds to lose before September 15.

I've gone up and down 50 lbs. a number of times in my adult life. The older I get, the harder it is to keep it off. I get sick of eating salads, but I know I need to do it to keep the weight off.

Thanks Stu. We're eating salads at least 3 nights a week with the father in-law. He likes them and makes them so I eat them. Losing weight after age 50 is definitely tougher to do. I've put off trying to exercise more years saying I'll be doing more of that when I retire. I realized I better not wait for that. I've got 4 1/2 months until I see the doctor for my annual physical. I'm thinking she will be impressed if I keep at it between now and then.
