R.I.P Boats
My good high school friend died today after a battle with cancer. 46 years old. Got to say, the guy lived his life.
30 years ago it was a Wednesday school morning and that meant school started an hour late. We were suppose to use that hour to meet with our teachers or to catch up on homework. My friends and I used it to fool around with girls and to get a buzz on. That morning I had picked up my girlfriend and returned to my house with her when Boats showed up. Sometimes I had pretended not to hear Boats so he would leave and I'd get some extra time with the girl. Boats understood. Not that morning. I invited him in and said, "Boats, its a Jack Daniels morning!" No argument from Boats. The girlfriend is a good girl, staying sober at least before noon. Well, Boats and I can't have just one drink. And I'm not sure if we stopped at two. As I drive the three of us to school that morning it becomes evident that for whatever trouble we may get in for skipping school that day, it is a way better option than going to school that day. Dropped the girlfriend of at the high school's main doors, and went back and finished that bottle. That was a good day. Forever known between Boats and I as The Jack Daniel's Morning. R.I.P.

Sorry to hear that caveman. It has to hurt pretty bad losing someone you've known for so long. Sounds like you got some good times in before he passed.

Thanks for the well wishes.
This has been another reminder for me that the next hunting season isn't guaranteed to any of us.
I've lost a few friends when younger. This is the first one with any kind of warning. It is easier when you are able to see and talk to them one last time. While also hard to see them suffer at the end.

Yes, a 'sober' (sorry humor off Cave's story) reminder that tomorrow isn't guaranteed, I am sorry to hear about that Cave. Thats a long time to build a repertoire with someone to have it just ripped away.

41 straight days of over 20,000 steps. I've lost a total of 54 pounds since May. The hills are getting a lot easier now. I've got the diet thing figured out. Blueberries are taking the place of the ice cream, potato chips, breakfast sandwiches I used to frequently eat. The sun is going down earlier so I don't have a lot of time to fiddle around after dinner before I head out to walk for 90-120 minutes. I'm still walking an hour in the morning and at lunch. I've got 6 more pounds to lose before September 15. 117 days of 20,000 or more steps. It's been 3-4 hours a day and is getting tougher with less daylight hours. Blood pressure is great. Hills around here are way easier now. Last I looked I'd lost 62 pounds.

I've been waiting to say anything until my girls both knew. Early this year my PSA test were high after a few months another test was done, this also was high. So a biopsy was done not long ago. The results came back that I have prostate cancer. I'm scheduled to have my prostate removed Dec 6th. Doc tell me that once inside they'll be able to tell if it has gone past the prostate. I guess it could have been worse. I have several knife orders I have to get out before the surgery so it has helped keep my mind off of it. I really don't know what else to say, so I'll leave it at that.

Best wishes Mike
