"Turkey Town Fish Pail Ale" has a nice ring to it. Kinda remindful of one of my fav's here in OZ......Four Peaks Kilt Lifter.

No picture, but after some home projects I'm enjoying a Leinies snowdrift Vanilla Porter, very tasty.

Any of you guys into home brewing? I had a buddy who was for a few year's. Some was ok others no so much. I think the biggest problem he had was it wasn't aged long enough.

20 years ago I lived alone and was making what felt like good money. Ahh. Freedom. I was brewing a batch of beer every week or two. Most were pretty good, a few were very good and one was so bad I dumped it. If you ever consider the recipe for the Christmas Spruce found in the Home Brewers Bible, don’t. It’s nasty.
I made one batch when my wife and I moved in together. I haven’t made one since. A lot of things get sticky when brewing and she is a clean freak. Too much bitching for me.
Now days she encourages me to get back into it. But I have enough hobbies now.

My buddy that makes the shine made up a batch of mead about 8 months or so ago. He and I both tried a bottle about 2 weeks after he brewed it. It still had a bit of yeast in the bottom of the bottle at that time, so it was drinkable, but not what I would say would be considered "good". Well, after 8 months, I handed a couple bottles out to some other buddies to try and both of them said it was excellent! The yeast is now gone and both of them said it was pretty strong from an alcohol content perspective and since they both drink dark, heavy, cask-aged beers frequently, I would say the aging really helped it a lot. I still have one bottle for myself, which I will most likely drink for the Super Bowl, so I will see for myself in a few weeks.

Patch and I used to homebrew a lot when I lived in the twin cities. We didn't adventure much, we just kept making the beer we liked. The only time things went south was when we were drinking heavily while brewing. One example, I forgot to pour the malt in on the back end of the cook. That was a very light beer. I also helped a guy brew a mountain of hard cider and various beers for his wedding. The pressure built up way too much in one of the ciders, and he had them popping off in his basement. At the wedding, the ones with the red cap would blow about 20 feet in the air and only have about an inch of fluid in the bottle once the blow off was done. I drank about 35 of those in 2 hours.

A local brew here is named with a great name for white-tail country: Chasing Tail Amber Ale. Has a nice ring to it.

My dad and one of his buddies brewed a lot of beer for a while. We would all get together on Sunday morning's, go for a long run, then sit around drinking homebrew for a couple hours. It was always dark brews and strong. Good stuff usually but once in a while a batched turned out bad.

^. I have found very few beers I like that come from the many micro breweries out there. Most of them are IPA's loaded with hops and are bitter. I much prefer a Lager or a pale ale done right. Also.....why the wheat and orange flavored beers have become popular is beyond me. KEEP THE FRUIT OUTTA THE BEER - I SAY!
