That retirement plan sounds good to me. I wish I had the energy for some of those projects I once had. I am losing not only the ability to do these things.....but the desire to go after the tough work. Huge change from the time I bought the land to what I am now willing to do. Glad I got the big projects done when I did......as they ain't gonna happen anymore without the right labor plan in place. I may do some light excavating for fun and cut some firewood for exercise......but a big project is out. FORE! I am happy with my ability to nicely maintain what I got. I suppose ten or twenty years from now the piece will need some overhauling.....but currently it's in pretty fair shape for my purposes. We need to remember that this is supposed to be entertainment and fun. If it becomes too much like work, we need to cut back. I have also learned to ( or tried to) apply that logic to the hunt. It is supposed to be fun. If you are cold or tired, taste a break. If you are constantly worried about your neighbor and not enjoying the hunt, something has to change and it probably won’t be your neighbor.

I save my chain saw fuel allotment for my tractor. Far easier on my back. . I may run two tanks of gas thru my chainsaw in a year.....mostly for birch firewood. If I would have the right kind of woods to interest a logger, then my saw time would have been much reduced. At some point, I will end up pretty much "making over" the vast majority of my property. My back and arms, and chain saws will be the tools that got that done. The aspen logging up north should give me about ten years of good habitat. By then, Norway pine will need to be harvested again. And by then, I won’t want to do any chain saw work up there anyway.

My hope is that this place will have some harvestable timber in 25 years. If we could sell this place for a 50% profit in 20 years I'd be one happy feller.

Warming trend on the way for the "valley:". Quite a phenonmenal difference in weather from "the valleY' to some other well known areas in OZ. For example, Im pretty sure places like Kingman, Sedona, Prescot, and Flagstaff are dealing with allot of snow right now. But in "the valley" we merely had a little rain and some folks got a taste of cold.....and maybe a little snow for a few hours. Gone now....and warming trend is back with temps back into the 70's.
ELEVATION is everything here.....and flatlandeers dont get it for a few seasons. If you enjoy the cooler summers and mild winters.....just come to Flagstaff or Kingman.....and you will have what you want.....plus some phenomenal hunting opportunities.
As said.....lots of variety of climate situeations around here. As for me.....I like the valley in the winter. FORE!
Here I gotta worry about sunburn......two hours away they may worry about snow drifts. Amazing.

-13 at my camp this morning. The forecast called for -1. They’re now calling for 8” Monday night into Tuesday morning. I guess I’ll need to make sure the snowblower is working.

We had a little snow last night. Sleet right now & straight rain on the way.
I got skunked last night but will hunt for the last time this morning. Winter never really got here this year.

We made it through January with not much snow after the 30” storm in late December. Now Biden us hitting us hard. In addition to the stock market taking a dump, we’re now due for a nor’easter tomorrow night and another 8” next weekend. Screw Biden.

By the time I filled the wood stove & cleaned off the car my hands were already in pain. I really dislike when you come back indoors and they are in pain from being so cold.

No snow from the storm yesterday. Windchill is about -20. That made for a rather chilly walk

Only got about 1.5 inches of wet snow at home. The winter storm that the weatherman predicted here never materialized.
