-10 with a -32 wind-chill. All the way up to -8 for a high today. Sounds like it will be like this for the next week or so.

Who job was it to watch me last night? I ended up buying some of my fall plot seed. Ridiculous. I've got another order cued up at Outside pride for that clover blend, some BFTF, crimson clover, hairy vetch, purple coneflower, and black eyed susan. There's also a third order cued up at the quackery (exotic flowers site) for an ounce of willowherb seed. After I get some cereals and a big bag of an annual legume, this plot will be more expensive than an acre of high yield corn on rented ground in hog country.

Ha! I ordered a few pounds each medium red and Alice white clover from Albert Lea Seed yesterday.
That’ll get mixed with the white clover mixture I never planted last year, along with chicory and burnet, this Fall. I’ll put it next to my pumpkins.

I don't think it's the same as that one. Northern willowherb. I found a few plants on my place a couple years ago, and the deer had it nearly stripped. Always looking for extra broadleaves. www.prairiemoon.com/epilobium-glandulosum.html

I've tried to get fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium) established here a few times. The seed is beyond tiny (and pretty expensive). I've had zero luck so far. I will say I haven't planted it the "right way". Pretty much either frostseeded it or put it on exposed gopher mounds and kicked some dirt on top.

I hoping because it's native, it'll tolerate going a little early (July) vs mimicking the fall seed drop. All this business is going into the reinvigorated south plot if I get it done. I'm still shopping around for a cheap annual legume, something $20-40/bag knowing it likely ain't gonna live more than 2-3 weeks. Thinking about peas of some sort.

That white sweet clover isn't going in the food plot. That's getting frost blown into my cut open spots this spring. Kinda wanna see if I can get that sweet clover to come up through and engulf that brush. Would be a nice bonus for the bug life.

With this week's weather, Twinspires will be rolling on the big screen. I can stretch $40 a long way. Anybody else like off track horse racing?

I’ve had mine for 2 months. 😂

78 and sunny here in Florida. No way in hell I’d be up north if I was retired. Went to the beach. It rained but just sat through it. Not bad at all. Guy next to us was catching whiting. They were from Michigan.

Cooked up some grouper for the first time tonight. Very good. Just a simple pan sear/oven bake with butter and olive oil. S&P too.
