Were you out during the week? Weekends and holidays are a different deal. Families and college kids were thick Saturday through today. Mainly afternoons. Old people still dominate in the morning. One day on the weekend and two weekdays. It was not crowded at two of them though. Last place was packed. Trust me.....at some point in time.....you learn to see through the wrinkles. lol.

I think it's helpful to have a mental picture of the "pre-wrinkled" version though Those of us lucky enough to get old, get wrinkles. Forming a relationship with someone before the major wrinkles set in makes it a bit easier to adjust to aging together (at least I think so). That said, I watched a number of couples today. One thing that struck me odd was that an awful lot of gals in their 40s - early 70s have had boob jobs. The other thing that was clear is that old rich dudes can draw chicks half their age (who've had boob jobs). I feel bad for the 30-40 something year old gals who have to put up with some dude's wrinkly 60-70 year old ball sack. Whatever it takes to get rich in America I suppose

Well we got an inch of snow at home instead of 8”. It’s freezing rain right now. Hopefully we get less than 8” at the camp. We’re still forecast for another 8-9” on Thursday.

Today's walk. Nokomis Beach, probably the nicest beach we've visited. Shells everywhere. It doesn't take long to get soft here. The high is only around 70 and there's a steep breeze. Folks at the beach were wearing hoodies and tying the hoods closed. We weren't quite that bad, but did have on long sleeves. On the way back we saw the aftermath of a car/motorcycle crash. They shut down half of a four lane highway and re-directed traffic so medflight could get in. The biker was still on the pavement when we went past....don't think he made it. Good time to come home and stay the hell out of traffic for the rest of the day.

The sea was angry that day. 70 with a big wind still beats this crap. I never got out of shorts and a t-shirt. Traffic is the one downside there.

That traffic situation in FL was the deal breaker for us. That and a high people density at the ocean was off putting for me. Then, even the waiters get snooty at the restaurants. To New York for this guy. Walking on the beach wears out after a bit.....for me. The ocean is rally nice at first....but it's always windy and you really can't "use" the ocean as much as one would think. I always say I get my water "fix" in the MN summers. Different strokes for different folks. It's all good.....and we cannot all be in the same place at the same time. FORE!

The snooty waiters/waitresses and patrons are at the high end places. We don't like those places. We went to one today by accident. We sat at the bar and had great service from a young native Floridian. It was a great meal (not worth the cost though) and we enjoyed the experience...until some rich fuckers from MI sat down next to us. Then it was time to go.
We've yet to see a beach with a high people density. Those beaches exist, but again...that's where the rich folks go. Fort Myers is one area/beach I never need to see again. Full of money, snootiness, and people. Not our style.
I can't believe the traffic is worse in communities with populations of 10-25K than it is in an area with populations in the 100s of thousands or millions? It takes about 15 minutes to get to each of the 3 beaches we've gone to. We're looking to get that down to 5 minutes next year, but may not be able to pull it off for what I want to pay.

I read something interesting a day or two back. A dude was talking about assigning value to things we buy on a daily basis like smokes, snacks, meals, drinks, or obscure food plot seeds. He mentioned that he carries a couple 1 ounce silver rounds in his pocket. When he's deciding whether or not to buy, he pulls out those two pieces of silver and asks himself if he's willing to trade his silver for whatever's in front of him. I thought that was neat. Two pieces of silver for a sheet of plywood?

Sheet of plywood is $46 at menards now I believe. Knew I should have bought them on sale for $32 last month. Fuck me.

I'm glad we built here in OZ when we did. Prices are spiraling out of control. F'n Biden.

I think I'd be tempted to get a good fishing Kayak from Hobie and try my hand at the back bays. What a way to spend a day. The place we stayed last year had kayaks we could have used on the canal. We were only there for a few days so we didn't use them. Stay for a month and I'd probably try to figure out how they work. I gotta get my wife away from the internet. She's about ready to book a place for all of next February right now.Well, thankfully the cooling off period worked. She's now thinking two weeks is enough. Neither of us is that great at doing nothing for an extended amount of time just yet. I'll be honest, I'm sure happy we were here instead of MN for that cold snap...but I'm ready to fire up a chainsaw and ride the atv around my property. I think it'll be at least another 10 years before I'm ready to do nothing for a month. I guess we'll see
