The radar yesterday showed a lot of color in central MN, so I thought you guys were getting quite a shot of moisture. We picked up about an inch in SE MN, which was nice. We could use more rain to recharge the soil and groundwater, but I can't complain.
We really could use this kind of consistent moisture in July and August, it seems like the faucet usually shuts off then.

Not complaining... I've got standing/trickling water on a couple plots. That used to be "normal" in April/May. Maybe the ground water is actually getting recharged. I wont be doing any work on those plots for quite awhile I'm also going to need knee boots to get to a few trees I want to top work

It looks like another round of storms is headed our way tonight. They are forecasting 1/2", which would be nice. I probably should try to get the oats planted in my pigpen tonight to take advantage of the coming rain.
Maybe start potting up my grafted apple trees as well.

We caught another nice rain this morning that appears to have dropped about an inch. I really couldn't ask for a better start for the 600 seedlings we planted a week and a half ago. I saw a little water runoff this morning by my house for the first time in a long time. The subsoil was so dry previously that the early rains soaked right in. Hopefully this means the soil moisture levels are getting back to normal - it has been a while since we had any moisture in the soil.

Another .5" or so over night. A dry week or 10 days wouldn't hurt my feelings, but it doesn't look like that will happen anytime soon. I just hope some of this rain continues thru the growing season
Edit...I miss read the rain gauge from the house. I dumped an inch out a bit ago.

I just hope some of this rain continues thru the growing season This is great weather for new tree plantings and mushrooms, but I would like a little more sun. I hope we get a couple of wet stretches like this later in the summer when we really need it. It will be nice to have some good soil moisture heading into the growing season.

Corn may be going in a bit late in our area. It looks like many of the potatoes are planted. These intermittent rains have sure helped the drought conditions.

Soupy here. This heavy ground is pretty much saturated with more rain coming this week. Glad my fields are planted into alfalfa. I'd be crying if I had to plant any food plots anywhere near the next few weeks.

Have not seen my deer property since December. Getting Anxious to get back to the tundra and see what I got in my land and food plots this year. Flying back on Wed. Sounds like a very wet spring. Hope my clover and rye is growing well.
Playing golf with temps in the 90's lately. Ive been pretty good with temps to this point.....but it's soon getting hotter here. Quail chicks are hatching here. Cute little fuzz balls with toothpick legs running around on the golf course. Bobcat living on neighbors patio gave birth to a pair of kits recently. People treat those bobcats and coyotes almost like pets. Buh Bye to OZ for another season.

I might even have some TRUE ones! I would like to harass your pet Muskies this summer. I got a plan, but probably a poor one. August on Round Lake.

I picked up a new musky setup this winter and am dying to use it. The ultimate goal is to catch a 54+ incher, keep it, and cook it up.

Anybody else have a weather station they use at home? I picked this up on Saturday and set it up Sunday afternoon. The weather sensor is up on top of my shed and it sends all the info to the monitor in the house. Pretty neat to have all the weather information I want in one display.

What recipe would you use? I have an old church cookbook from northern Wisconsin that had a bunch of musky recipes. Some were stuffed like a turkey and baked, which sounds interesting.

I had one smoked by the local meat market. That was about 40 years ago and the fish was caught on a very hot day out of the Mississippi. The taste reminded me of the smell of the River, back in those days. Those who drank more beer thought it was good.
