60 people attended the Alexandria one. Not very good considering the thousands upon thousands of hunters in these general areas. How many people even know about these meetings? Sadly, most people dont give 2 shits. They will get their license and a management permit next year and goddamit they will fill them if they can.

I would go but I am traveling Jerry. I think the more information you get the better off you are. If you have time I encourage you to go.

I plan on joining you guys in Brainerd. What time are you off of work or will you arrive there?
i hear we will be broken into small groups to generate ideas and then report back.
I also heard that many of the deer planning team meetings will be in the St. Cloud area. (The Brainerd meeting and Cambridge are for public input.) The team meetings are open tot he public. I might try to attend a few.

I missed the meeting in Alex, but some guys I know were pretty vocal on age class bucks. The one guy hunts in an area of high deer numbers and he is perplexed on buck to doe ratio. It makes it tough, as his area is full of deer, matter of fact I drove by there the other night on the way to a Super Bowl party and I bet we saw 200 deer in a 5 mile stretch, some bucks too...
His idea, is similar to mine. I believe we should do something to try to get bucks older, something!! Also, the ability to harvest a few does in a high population area could be satisfied by offering a landowner tag (with no extra...you have to allow public hunting BS). The tag would be part of the overall allotment, and would be issued on a need basis, the DNR should be able to assess where the deer numbers are higher??
Just my two cents.

the DNR should be able to assess where the deer numbers are higher?? Be careful what you wish for! The DNR will issue EVERY landowner 3 each!

Yep, let the DNR know you want to whack the antlerless herd back so you can have better big buck hunting You'll get Managed designation year after year after year...and the number of bucks of all ages will get reduced and reduced and reduced.

I think what this guy was saying and what I am saying is more serious steps need to be taken then adjusting doe tags.
