When the kids were little they use to ride on the ledge behind the seat while I was plowing or disking. The steady hum of the tractor and the sun coming in the cab window would put them to sleep in 5 minutes. Then a few years later I was bailing them out of jail, where did the time go....

Did they slam their heads against the windows so hard you figured it'd break? That's what happened to me when I was little. I'd fall asleep or start falling asleep and when we'd hit some washout going down the meadow road the cab would rock left and right and I'd about put my head clean through the glass.

When I was a lad.....we didn't have no stink'n cabs to ride in. Wed stand on one of the footrests between the pickers snapping rolls and the steering wheel. Fall asleep and you'd fall into the picker and be toast. Grin. I remember when having a heat-houser was a big thing. .

Been waiting for two weeks for my dealer to get some hydraulic kits installed. So....one of these "kits" was really a bogus setup. So I started a search on TBN and Orange tractor talk about this deal. Found some pretty bad situations as I expected.....and went to post on Orange tractor about this. Man....I got flamed like a cheap cigar. Those boys ar vicious in love with their orange tractors....regardless of the issues presented. I am about to get "banned" again for speaking my piece.....but at this point in my life.....what do I care. Seems so childish....but here I am. I thought you guys may like my "swan song" to the guys at Orange Tractor Talk.

He agreed and crawled under the tractor and tucked the hoses up and tie rapped them up in a protected area. Took all of 5 minutes, and no problem since.
I would have rather not had it show up like that, but he took care of it pretty quick.

My post:
^ Thanks for recognizing a problem with the Kubota offered 3rd function kit. This "kit" was not installed on the tractor I am buying....when I made our deal. Days later I see this situation after the dealer installs the Kubota "kit".....and knowing what I know.....this is unaceppatble. Why? Because it will get ripped away within weeks of mowing in the brush and weeds.....or get caught on a stump or other Debis. It's not acceptable to MOST (pardon my emphasis - not shouting) folks that operate these tractors.
So....I came here looking for a little advice and help with a new tractor buy.....and in short....here we are.
Now....some folks think that everything offered by Kubota is "good to go". And..... if your operating this equipment on a lawn or a manicured pasture.....maybe it is. BUT (there I go with my emphasis - not shouting!).....the primary reason most folks buy a 3rd function....is to operate a grapple or a snow plow. In my case it is a grapple and my dealer knows this as he converted my grapple from the JD pin mount to the SS mount used by kubota...in an effort to '"close" or deal. It did not occur to me at that time.....that Kubota would hang those 3rd function hoses behind the front wheel at the lowest position on the tractor.....to be exposed to the brush and chit that naturally occurs in the real world. Bad situation!
After being chastised here for bringing this point up (read back).....I was then admonished (with rolling eyes no less ) by the mod of this fine site.....and told that if I was unhappy....maybe I should be looking for another tractor. Riiiight. At this point I suppose it wont make a huge difference in my life if I just walk away.....buy a JD or a Kioti or Maharinda.....or some other product. ....or simply keep my opens station JD which is a fine tractor with only 600 hours. I am getting old....and simply want a cab tractor for the operating comfort and to get rid of the bees and hordes of deer flies that infect this land.
Today I went to look at "my new tractor" .....and while being promised to me over a week ago....they were still trying to figure out how to put the 4th and 5th functions together.....much less figure out how to fix the 3rd function problem (hose exposure) I have complained about.
I brought the dealer the solution (complete with diagrams and a "print" to make the soliton - I have like 25 mechanical patents and I think I know a thing or three about making simple gadgets) ....as provided in posts by a member on this site.....and also shown on TBN. It's like a $20 fix for him or Kubota......and he flinched at putting it on this tractor. I provide him with pics and easy drawings on how to easily solve this issue.
I did not hold his feet to the fire on price when making our deal.....nor drive a hard bargain....as I do realize folks need to make a profit. BTDT. But, he is going to talk to Kubota to see if they will stand behind this "fix" I proposed.
My position?......I will walk in a heartbeat if they dont do this. End of story.
Sure....you can flame me if you like....call me unreasonable.......and ban me from speaking my piece....but at the end of the day.....this Kubota 3rd function set-up is still a bunch of bull.
Dont believe me? Yeah....right. You likely do not own this model of tractor or this Kubota 3rd function kit. So.....you really dont have that experience to speak on the issue....as so many have.....and that is what can be said to be a "fan boy". No disrespect....but you really dont know.
Ban me if you must. I'm just too old to give two Schmidts about this kinda treatment. So-long. Last edited by Foggy1111; 1 Minute Ago at 10:03 PM. Foggy1111 is online now Report Post

Your going to walk over one hydro valve? Its that big a deal? It's more than that MO. The whole thing need some kind of protection.......and it's quite easy for them to provide......but will cost me about $100 and allot of fooling around to fix. Yep.....this has pissed me off enough to walk.......was not so much the dealer.....as this fricken website chastising me for speaking up on this issue. Stupid?....yes....but I got some principles and really dont give a chit.

Maybe. but....I'm busy playing golf and enjoying life. The tractor I bought had a 3rd function to operate a front grapple.....and two remotes at the back to operate my hydraulic top link and to operate another cylinder (like to turn my landscape rake......or when both are used to operate my stump grinder - and keep my loader operational.....which I could not do in the past). Yep....some of these features might be considered over the top by the average guy wanting a low priced deal......but this is likely the last tractor I will own.......and I wanted what I want.....and what is being touted by Kubota as current kit. So....when it comes to delivery....they got this Rube Goldberg set up.......and I aint buying it. It's a bunch chit....and will be problems. So.....I'm digging my heels in......and if they are half-ways smart....they will do the right thing. If not....its OK.....I can walk. .

Stick to your guns TOM. Your putting out a good dollar and should get what you pay for. Plenty of dealers around who will take your money.

Kubota is paying for a plate that will be made and installed by my dealer. Now....a Thursday delivery. Waaaay too long....but it will be complete. I got work to do at my land.....been saving mowing for the new rig......and got a plot to work up and plant.

If nobody complains they will never improve their design.
