I did talk to one vet who is still in practice and she has not heard of any covid in dogs. When I had COVID they told me to stay away from my dogs. My older dog laid in bed with me for 3 days. Another bs COVID narrative I read where one dog or cat tested positive. With the poor accuracy of the tests on humans, it really makes me suspicious of that report.

The next few weeks look great for pheasants. March can often be a wet storm pheasant killer. Stay dry please, although we will need some rain eventually.

Holy cow, pheasants were everywhere today. Did a little shed hunting (no sheds) but the birds survived the winter that is for sure.

The pheasant reproduction has to be fantastic this year. You could not ask for better conditions hot and dry. One cold day, but overall the chicks should be alive and well.

They're killing a lot of skunks and raccoons in SD! There's a bounty again this year. FIL trapped 29 combined at Nassau Deluxe this year. 10 bucks a tail. That can't hurt the pheasant crop.

I saw a hen with her chicks, looked like 15 or 16? Could possibly be another hen in the area I did not see, but that was a large hatch? I don't remember ever seeing that many in one group, anyone else ever see that many?
They could all fly too.

Could be a good year. Drought might hurt some areas, but I think good survival in my area.

I saw my first batch of chicks last week. Can't believe I haven't seen more as I'm sure it was a good hatch. Mine looked to be a large hatch as well probably around 10'ish. Some of them were actually sitting up in trees and I scared them when I was on my morning walk.

I flushed a hen and about a dozen chicks out at the farm last weekend, right from the road ditch.

This would have been an ideal year for sorghum which does well in hot and dry conditions. Unfortunately I did not plant any? My corn on the pheasant farm is not doing so well, sandy soil and not much moisture. I think it will be a little weedy, which is ok for pheasants!

My neighbor chased two clutches out while cutting hay today.
