I spray the rc with cleth every spring where my pines are planted. It doesn't kill it off but sets it back enough so that my pines can get going. So is that whole field reed canary grass? Pardon my ignorance but, I’m not familiar with it and I’m trying to figure out if I have it in one area.

Deer love it for bedding up until heavy snow fall.

They will like it better and longer once those conifers are about 5 feet tall!

The transfers from last year are looking good. How many years or how much new growth do they need to put on before they can handle the deer browse? Would like to reuse cage elsewhere once they are ready.

I leave the cages on for a few years until some of the rod is above the browsing height of deer.
They can grow and expand on their own if you do that. When I pull the cages off earlier they are overbrowsed and never amount to much.

The ROD with cardboard has been in the ground for a week. The other was planted last year. Both are popping leaves.

My ROD cuttings all come from road ditches or RR right of ways. Free cuttings are my favorite kind- How long are your cuttings??

Stuck my 3rd round of cuttings into the ground today in amongst the branches of some downed trees. I'm hoping this will be a ruby red thicket in the not too distant future.
