The Outdoor News should be intesting in the next few months. I just for the life of me cannot figure out how these people can make decisions like this and feel like they are doing the right thing. Outdoor news is a liberal rag and a DNR pawn.

Good to be a free range, multiple paddock, heritage bread, contract pig farmer. Saw this bs coming awhile ago. Private rec land for the enjoyment of the outdoors, here in mn, will be completely controlled by the MN dnr. And the land values will drop like a brick Good to hear from you.

Mnfish might be getting lots of heritage pig questions from guys in se Mn If the deer hunting goes downhill my backup plan is duck/fish ponds and pigs.

For anyone not happy about the changes to the deer regs this year, Blufflands has a plan to remedy this and ensure our voices are heard.

The one area that was a standout in MN, SE MN, is now gonna go backwards. Amazing how CWD is an excuse to wreck a good thing.

SE MN will remain the standout IMO. Since most of that area is privately owned, I don't see much anything happening to the buck herd down there. I do envision some more does getting shot for a few years. Anybody who owns anywhere near public land though...ouch
edit...I'll add that if SE MN doesn't remain the standout it will be thanks to deer hunters...not the MN DNR. We can blame the DNR all we want, but it will be deer hunters killing deer. If land owners down there accept government's attempts to bully them, then they'll get what they deserve I suppose.

I hope the hunters of SE MN recognize that they have a good thing and will not shoot 1 buck per season. Like you said, public land could be a zoo. It is pretty much everywhere in MN.

SE MN has been on a slide for years. This will have a major effect and continue the downward trend. Not every parcel but it will be significant.

Don't forget, the state injected over $4 million new dollars into "CWD management efforts" this past session. The normal zone 3 hunts killed less than 12,000 deer in 2017. That new CWD money could finance the whacking of an extra 40,000 animals. I'd imagine the boys at White Buffalo are frantically staffing up for a long winter. The state doesn't need access to every property, just enough of them to pull deer in with the pile.
A guy is gonna have to inventory his neighborhood and break everyone in your ecosystem neighborhood down into a few categories to know what may happen.
1. Those who refuse to participate in the cull. 2. Those who don't allow any hunting or culling of any sort. 3. Those who will gladly whack and stack until they run out of bullets. 4. Hostiles who will gladly allow the state in to fill dumpsters.
I bet you they invest zero dollars in the Brainerd zone to cull as well. I can see them letting the non-owner-hunters do the leg work there, and focus their efforts on zone 3.

THREE WEEK SEASON in my area, and $2.50 per tag for as many does as you want???........every FUDD in the state is gonna come here to bonk a few deer. .......and THIS is after ONE CWD deer about 15 miles away? Seems like over-kill to me. Sad.

I think I am going to make a sign. NO HUNTING / Private Land. Turn Back. VIolaters will be prosecuted. ......and place it prior to my land. Gonna ask some neighbors to let me put it up 1/2 mile up the road.
After 12 years of working my fanny off on my land to make it a good property.......this CWD shit comes along and threatens hunting for the rest of my lifetime. Damn. Pretty pissed about this right now.
