^ Wow, how can you not see these types of policies as nothing more than an attempt to completely destroy the herd? I wonder how long this kind of policy will be in place? Will the DNR ever be pacified or is CWD an excuse to keep deer numbers artificially lower forever? If this happened in my area I would work with my neighbors to manage trigger control. Sorry Ben, hopefully this will pass and that area can go back to its potential. Illinois been doing it since 2002. Will or has this become a coordinated national program? It sure doesn't bode well for buying hunting land in these states.

Illinois been doing it since 2002. Will or has this become a coordinated national program? It sure doesn't bode well for buying hunting land in these states. All the game managers from across the country get together and have conferences to discuss how to manipulate hunters into destroying their own sport. The guy from Pennsylvania comes to mind. I can't remember if he was the speaker or the tip of the spear in PA, but it got out that they have worked on various forms of BS to keep people on the trigger. This is all your whacky shit like earn a buck, bonus tags, bounties, contests (brought to you by farm bureau), bonus hunts, youth hunts, CWD, division (game farms vs wild, crossbow vs traditional, scopes vs no scopes, meat vs horns), useful idiot bargaining (Blufflands), snipers, and more. How do we kill more deer? They ain't working on habitat, cures, or hunter recruitment. The check writers don't care about any of that.

States like PA and WV used to have buck only rifle seasons with just a few doe days open after general rifle closed.
I hunted WV in the late 80s early 90s and it was common to see 30-50 deer a day and not see any antlers. There was no rutting activity, no scrapes no chasing. A buck could get laid without moving. And if he did move he was shot as a forkie. Understory was decimated by high populations.
I never hunted PA but it was a similar situation back then. The Ault guy from PA did what needed to be done. The QDMA message applied to those states At that time. Does needed to be killed. The pendulum may have swung too far in PA. I no longer have friends who live and hunt there. The hunting in WV is better now than it was back then.
I don’t think you can lump all states in with the sad situation of MN.

I don't think KS fits the narrative. KS just wants.to make money by whoring out the antlers. I doubt they try to decimate the herd as much as make sure everyone who has ever seen a hunting show from KS can buy a tag and come shoot a 120in'r.

This situation really stinks, but it reinforces that I just need to try to give the deer the thickest cover and the best food and hope for the best. It really stinks that my kids will start hunting in several years and will never see the type of hunting that we have had the last several years.
