Propane may be cheap but I still love a hot fire at the cabin more and so does my wife. I can keep shoveling wood in and make it hot enough she starts shedding clothes. Works well.

Ash & Walnut for summer quarantines!!🍻 Looks good bwoods. I imagine walnut burns well but not sure I've ever used it. Are you guys located where the ash borer hit and all the ash died? From what I've read it could make for an endless supply of wood. I finished splitting and stacking for the summer last weekend, too many bugs to keep messingwith it. Everything's stocked and ready. 99% hedge.

The ash borer is a county away. Not sure how walnut will burn, we will see.

Need to create a new fire pit at the old building site. Oak on hand. I might turn the old granary into a blind... see food plot in background.

That's a cool looking old building. What property is that on?
I'd throw a few blocks of mouse poison in there now so the current occupants will die and decompose before you sit there this fall!

The best firewood I have found is the shit that someone other than me has cut, split, and stacked!

I have a 40 that I’m part owner with my dads friend. My dad bought it in 95, I own his share now. Cool spot. I can’t spend a lot of $$$ unless I buy him out. Which I might? One of the Prettiest spot in the county. I get asked to sell about every every month. It’s my favorite spit to hunt. Lots of history here. The partner is fine, but I wouldn’t recommend it. Too many restrictions. Luckily he’s not an avid hunter. **drone pic of the East half of the 40

The best firewood I have found is the shit that someone other than me has cut, split, and stacked! That's kind of how I select mine. What is closest to the fire pit already? That's how I choose. I also pick stuff that splits easily. If I cut the wrong stuff, I'd have to hook up to the grid and buy an electric splitter and build an extra shed to store it.

There’s 2 ponds on the property, maybe it could hold fish? I’d have to do some thinking on that .

for a campfire or fireplace.....it's hard to beat dry, split birch logs. Nice flame, cracking fire, good heat, easy to light.
For the best heat, I like ash, red elm, or oak. Heavier wood = more BTU's
