I’d shit my pants if Minnesota came out and said they would have some kind of special youth archery hunt? Maybe open up some State Parks? Refuges? I think almost every state park has a hunt already. Many that dont are muzzle loader hunted by the DNR employees.

Bwoods has it right.
Economics 101 says if you want more hunters you create a better product. We still have too many hunters in MN for the number of deer.

Here is how you get kids into hunting. My son at 4 years old. He was hooked at 4. No youth deer or duck or whatever season needed. A little off the topic of youth deer season, but the DNR is trying to recruit kids they say....... this is how you recruit kids. Get em involved early. And no, my son didnt shoot that duck..... he didnt get his first duck until 2 years later at 6 years old.... no lie.

It wasn't until just before our wedding looking through old photo's trying to find some for a slide show that I didn't realize how "into" the outdoors I was when I was young. My wife and her family just couldn't believe how many dead animals I was around growing up. To me, it was just normal and a passion of our whole family. I look at each of those photo's and can pull out the memories and what happened on each fishing trip/hunt.

I could post hundreds of pics of hunting and fishing for the last 20 years. I hadnt looked at them for a very long time. I actually impressed myself with how much we did back in the day. Kids get older, I get older. Sad fact, things change. The kids are doing "their thing" now. My daughter got her acceptance letter to Mankato State today. Another phase change coming.

My youngest daughter shot two bucks if my memory is right. The last was a twelve pointer and she hasn’t hunted since.
Occasionally she has said she would like to go if it is a warm sunny day, but usually says to not buy a license due to expense. She is in a different phase of her life. She does like to fish.
Oldest daughter likes to deer Hunt and fishing is just ok.
My wife also likes the warm days for deer season. Heck, I do also.

Allot of alternative hobbies today other than hunting.

Allot of alternative hobbies today other than hunting. I think the shortening of attention spans also plays a role. In today's instant gratification society, it's unusual for a person to sit "unentertained" for hours on end. I'd guess that even the vast majority of hunters over age 50 sit and look at their phones while on stand.
