Hey I know you are aware of this, but 8 days in November to archery hunt the rut is rare. The gun season on Nov 9, which gives a unique opportunity to {hopefully} see some rutting action prior to the gun season. Exciting, and the cold weather could make it the perfect combo.
Good luck and hopefully you guys can tag one, or at least experience some close calls! Should be fun. Please post any rut action or close calls if you would....

I had what appeared to be twin 2.5 year old 8 pointers walk under me last night. They had been feeding in a small plot with 4 does and a fawn. There was zero chasing or harassment by either buck. After the bucks fed, they left a few seconds apart and followed each other. It sure didn't seem very "rutty" last night.

I have not seen much yet either Stu-- it seems to happen around November 3 or later in most years, sometimes you see a flurry on Halloween. Most years we miss it completely due to the added pressure of the gun season.

The most bucks/buck activity in MN that I have ever seen in one hunt was on the Halloween blizzard of 1991. Absolutely insane with bucks chasing does non stop.

This little dude just chilled out for about 2 hours in front of a camera while the ladies mingled. He doesn't appear to be rutted up yet.

Lone doe from the stand tonight. My wife watched 3 does and a nubbin buck eating hostas and sunflower seeds at the house.

A grand MN rut goin' on. Halloween night. Sure wish we could get out tomorrow here at home. River is HIGH as hell. Not sure if mature bucks like swimming or where I would have to aim to hit vitals if he came swimming by.
