This post is not meant to single any one guy out or say someone is right or wrong. But it amazes me how people get their "truth" and stand by it without critically thinking it thru. They have a predetermined bias and shut out all critical thinking.....once all the mn deer farmers are elminated, and they will be at this rate imho, what then? Cwd will be eliminated? Deer hunting will be better? 25 positives in the wild out of how many tested? Prevalence rate? How many tested positive in all the deer farm test? Is that higher or lower? I am not pro or against deer farming. Look at the numbers before you pitch fork and burn at the stake these supossed witches. Cwd is out. And out forever. Even after you drive the deer farmer out of business

Even after you drive the deer farmer out of business In my opinion, Deer farmers have spread the disease, so have hunters in the things they have done, and probably others such as a few taxidermists and maybe even a feed company. It is too late to point the finger at any one group. We all will face it in the near future.

As well as the highway departments, scavengers, taxidermists, and the DNR themselves with their dump sites and long overdue and feckless importation ban. I've got no dog in this fight either. But mark my word, one day soon, we will be the prime target again. Civil rights are hard, because often to protect them you've got to stand up for the least popular among us. The enemy of our enemy is not our friend. The state has every one of us habitat'ers in their sights as well. They're still playing nice with their unlimited $2.50 tags, USDA shooters, farm bureau harvest contests, and feeding bans. If they can't meet their goals with current trickery, they'll escalate.

This is why it's so foolish to waste time and money on eradication efforts and move to understanding how to contain it. For how much deer have moved around since CWD has been out west, there are things going on in the environment preventing it from taking root everywhere. That's where research needs to go. But who openly attacks any deviation from the narrative? The state game controllers and state game NGOs (MDHA, The Q, Blufflands). I'm surprised that dude at LSU wasn't fired, stripped of his credentials, and blacklisted for daring to find a cure.

I'm surprised that dude at LSU wasn't fired, stripped of his credentials, and blacklisted for daring to find a cure. I thought he was no longer working there. I lost track of it, to be honest. The coordinated response from state agencies and the orgs to throw cold water on this guy was all the proof I needed to see to realize this was pure BS. He was asking for $300,000 to finish his research. It was a zero risk proposition to support that guy's effort. Even if he failed, it wouldn't be the first research project that didn't pan out. Now, there are redundant efforts going on in each state to develop a field test to look for CWD. Why? Why not a joint effort in one state or at the federal level? It's not about a field test. It's about keeping the fear alive and keeping the research misdirected and fragmented.

Any cure will be found inside the fence. Because private deer farmers are the only group that want a solution.

Agreed. Deer hunters want a solution. Deer farmers need a solution because without one they're all going to be shut down.

Because their 'leadership' is all bought and paid off by the govt entities that dont want a solution.

Because deer hunters are individuals and as such they end up putting their trust into entities like the DNR, MDHA, QDMA, Blufflands, etc. etc. etc. The same reason the deer herd in MN looks like it does. Deer farmers are likely going to lose a bunch of money thanks to CWD. Deer hunters won't be as impacted financially.

Sometimes I wonder if the deer hunting tradition is more about drinking than anything else.

Deer farms are dropping at a record pace in MN. Bet we see half of them quit in 2019, and more in 2020 if the movement ban is permanent. Strange they did not include elk. I agree with Art that CWD has been moved by both sides of the fence and appears only a matter of time before the sate is blanketed. Disappointing to watch state leadership sit idle as govt regulation strangles industry without any talk of compensation. Even if you hate deer farms the political ramifications are disturbing.
