I think he makes about $50k a year rolling his deer around. He knows if nobody fights the DNR on the movement ban it becomes permanent. Pretty sure it's gonna become permanent whether he fights or not Odds are you be correct. And there will likely be some money spent in court.

It is just unfortunate that it has come to this, but if I were Steve, I would not bring the bucks. This is in St. Paul and the DNR will probably make a point to not allow it. I met Steve a couple of times, seems like a nice guy, but this is going to be a challenge.
Whatever can be done to not spread CWD is a positive, the DNR will wipe out our deer herd in MN, if these detection spots keep popping up.

This is not about CWD.

This is not about CWD. Whose spin is the public going to believe? The DNR's or the deer farmer's? I think we all know the answer. The public, including the vast majority of deer hunters will indeed see this as being about CWD.

My twisted mind thinks the deer farms are good for the DNR right now. So long as they can keep the focus on them, they can continue the rollout of the cull. If they squash the deer farmers too soon, the engaged few at Blufflands may be forced to focus again on selling the cull and killing hope of a biological containment plan.

Well I know that the public will not get CWD in their popcorn at the ST Paul Show, but the law is in place, and he is former law enforcement. I am just saying why fight it, $1000 fine, and the DNR could make a scene and stop him forcefully? Who knows?

He has to fight it or it becomes permanent and his deer show days are over. He is ready for the courtroom.

Does Steve make that much money off his deer farm that he could afford a lengthy legal battle? Lawyer fees add up really, really quickly. Or is he being backed by a deer farm association of some sort?
I don't think he's making the right move by pushing the issue. This will harden the DNR and governor's stance that deer farmers can't be trusted to follow the rules.
