I think the movement ban will become permanent sans a lawsuit. Deer farms are dropping at a record pace in MN. Bet we see half of them quit in 2019, and more in 2020 if the movement ban is permanent. Strange they did not include elk.I agree with Art that CWD has been moved by both sides of the fence and appears only a matter of time before the sate is blanketed. Disappointing to watch state leadership sit idle as govt regulation strangles industry without any talk of compensation. Even if you hate deer farms the political ramifications are disturbing. I also find that strange I think its tribal influence. Money behind the scenes. Tribes want to move elk in.

Wild elk are different than farmed elk. I suppose politicians don't know that, or they're too stupid to figure out a way to allow bringing in wild elk from Kentucky or Michigan while not allowing farmed elk to be moved around.

I think Tennessee has had about 300 positive deer in the last few years. Are they at all close to the Kentucky elk herds? I seem to remember the consideration of Kentucky elk for introduction as they are CWD free... supposedly.

If deer hunters want a solution why are they not partnering and encouraging private industry efforts? Because their 'leadership' is all bought and paid off by the govt entities that dont want a solution. Because deer hunters are individuals and as such they end up putting their trust into entities like the DNR, MDHA, QDMA, Blufflands, etc. etc. etc. The same reason the deer herd in MN looks like it does. Deer farmers are likely going to lose a bunch of money thanks to CWD. Deer hunters won't be as impacted financially. I can't speak for you guys but in KS hunters are completely removed from the State agencies that control hunting. Public meetings, petitions, emails, etc fall on deaf ears. The State is going to do what the State is going to do. CWD is just the tool they are going to use to get what they want. CWD itself is probably going to have little impact on things other than being the instrument of fear mongers. At least that is what I hope is happening, I would hate for this disease to wipe out the deer herd and jump to humans.

I don't even know, I was just throwing out two states that I knew had successful wild elk herds. FTR...I don't support wasting time and resources on bringing elk to MN. All it takes is a glance to the east to see what will happen here. Elk will be really expensive wolf chow

I think that move will backfire on Porter. Time will tell. Does the general public support deer farming? I really doubt it

I think he makes about $50k a year rolling his deer around. He knows if nobody fights the DNR on the movement ban it becomes permanent.
