Consider emailing Barbara Keller DNR and ask their position. She won't answer me. Sucky job really. “Hi I’m Barb. I report to Lou. I will be your punching bag for the next year or so. Please be kind. “

Craig from MDHA text me today. Basically on the vote. We will see where this goes?? I don’t know if this is a MDHA resolution for this year or not. I will find out on Tuesday night. There had been one resolution about the youth hunt. I have mixed feelings on older youth who have hunted for years being included.

If opposed please send a letter to the editor of Outdoor News. Most of my friends have not even heard of this push. Stealth move I think.

I don't get ODN any more. I looked at the online version and can't find anything about a push for statewide rifle use. Google searches turn up nothing as well.

I text 4 guys today, all die hard hunters. They had not heard of this push. One guy said “are you Kidding me, what next hand grenades”

Here is the historical deer kill chart for Wisconsin. The total deer kill went down when they switched all counties to rifles from shotgun compared to the years before it changed. I really think you guys are worrying more than need be.

Why was 2007 and earlier so much better in Wisconsin?

Same can be said here.

Why was 2007 and earlier so much better in Wisconsin? That was when they had put earn-a-buck in effect and unlimited doe tags for 2 dollars. If any thing, that was the biggest reason for the decline of Wisconsin's deer herd. People can put crossbows and rifles in all counties as the problem but neither of those were in effect until 2013 and 2014.

My personal concern is not with total number of deer. We have plenty of does. It’s with the buck harvest. More young and up and coming bucks will die. There’s no doubt it will happen.
More efficient weapons. I’ve talked to 20-30 guys on this, not one I’ve talked with is for rifles,....these guys are not MDHA guys either. Could be other locals that love to use their rifle. Who knows.
