I probably already know the answer, but figured I'd ask.
Has anybody planted Fixation along with/under brassicas? I have one plot to do yet this year and I'm thinking about trying this combo. Fixation has done well for me the two times I've grown it. I have been lucky to get snow cover those years, so I'm sure that's a big part of why it's been successful. The stuff pretty much "explodes" with growth in the spring, but does very little in the summer/fall when planted. I'm thinking that since the fixation spends the summer/fall putting down a tap root and doesn't expand much, that it may do "ok" under brassicas. If it would work, I'd have a decent brassica stand for fall, and a decent cover crop that feeds deer and gives me some N the next spring

Is fixation a long term perennial or more of an annual?

I have actually never heard of fixation, might have to read up on that?

Is fixation a long term perennial or more of an annual? I guess I'd call it a biennial...either that or a winter annual. When summer/fall planted, it establishes a taproot and doesn't do much growing. Assuming it is protected by snow in temps below 5 or so, it survives winter (it has for me anyway) and then puts on incredible growth the next spring/early summer. Then it dies back. Allegedly, it can do some re-seeding but I have seen very little of that here.

Well, I'm gonna find out if this works or not. Just ordered 10 lbs. of Fixation. Already have the brassica mix

I put it down along with frosty berseem last fall, along with my brassica. The brassica grew like crazy. The clover, it appears, was shaded out and never did a lot. I have very sparse fixation that made it through the Winter were my brassica used to be. There are a few tall clusters. But nothing else. Maybe it was there and just mostly died from the cold we get. Unsure. But, I do get a little bit of it to go to seed every year. I've tried a couple times.

Will the Fixation put out enough Nitrogen to help the Brassica's?

Not if it doesn't grow.
