Nice work. That didn’t take long. Got out about 3:15, 4:10 she came out about 50 yards away and walked towards me. Wind was at my back and she knew something wasn't right but kept coming slowly. At 35 yards she stopped and turned somewhat broadside. I let it fly and knew she want going far. Found her about 10 yards in the woods, maybe 40 from where I shot. Small doe should be good eating. She gutted and hung, time for supper now.

Nice work, that's a tasty looking deer. Is that the same spot you shot your buck?

Congrats Tooln!! Those bales worked perfect for you. Yes they did. Hunting from the ground sure is different than up in a stand.

Congrats Tooln!! Those bales worked perfect for you. Yes they did. Hunting from the ground sure is different than up in a stand. You had to adjust from hunting way way up to down low. Good job!!

I sometimes mention that gun hunting doesn’t turn me on. Well that changed today. It’s our 2 day gun weekend and I hunted with dad on another place. I went old school with my 870 slug barrel with open sights. Plan was to make meat. I saw 16 deer. The first few were way off. The next 7 were about 100-120 yards. I put the bead on them but didn’t feel good. The next 4 were around 100 and same deal. The next was way too far and the last was about 50 yards but I only got a glimpse or two in heavy cover.
I hunted on the ground with a combination of still hunting and sitting on a stool. I thought it would be an easy hunt. It wasn’t. I got the shakes on the last deer. It felt like I was a teenager.
Back at my place with scoped muzzy now. My cousin is managing some does at his place so he is giving me a deer tonight. He has killed 3 bucks in 2 states so his freezer is pretty full. Since I’have one to butcher I’m thinking buck only tonight.

i killed a Boone and Crockett rabbit tonight that had horns like an antelope. No joke either- it actually had horns like a doe antelope. I thought I was something special until my dad shot a 5 point rabbit 5 minutes later.

here is a picture of the 5 point rabbit my dad shot yesterday. Further investigation showed that a disease causes this, so those two rabbits were incinerated when I burned an old brush pile. The other 2 we bagged will be turned into rabbit stew today.
