Now that I have my side by side.....I seldom use my Kawaska 400 Prairie. It say all summer. Had a gas leak that I had fixed and I am not going to get rid of it.....but it does not get much use anymore. I use the UTV for drag, seeding, chemical application and lots of other stuff that I used to do with the 4 wheeler. My Kawa is pushing 25 years old - maybe more? I think I paid $3000 for it.....and it has cost me very little. Original tires on it still. Guy that fixed mine said that lots of fires are started as folks dont turn off their gas on the tank when they park them (that is what was leaking on mine). Gas spreads across the floor and a spark can burn your building down. He got my attention. Damn solar power random sparks! So much power it'll jump right outta the battery box. And no days off like grid power.

It looks like if a guy is going to go with an enclosed cab with heat and a/c, the Polaris is the way to go. Kawasaki doesn't offer something like that, you need to go with an aftermarket cab deal and it looks pretty clunky to me. It seems either a guy drops $25K for something with most of the bells and whistles, or drop back to around $15K for a machine that will do everything the more expensive unit does...just with less human comfort. The wife says just spend the $25K and be done with it.... we are in the EXACT same boat. My buddy has a cat UTV and I love it. It's built like they build there big equipment. Also, imho, great value for the money.....BUT they don't have the comforts of a Polaris. And what momma wants, momma gets. Local financial support and ease of maintance are also at the top of my valued list. In talking with some local guys, they used to get their Polaris machines a couple towns north. Now, they are mostly heading to Holdingford. My wife used to live maybe 5 miles from there, so it isn't "local" for us now, but at least it's a small town. If they can get close on price, I think I'll buy one there (assuming I stick with the Ranger anyway, leaning pretty hard that way right now).

Cool man. Pretty sure we're going polaris Going in this spring and pulling the trigger. I do have to say that power steering is the bomb. Roof, back and front windshields. Bar light on top.

I added a block heater to my Yamaha so I can plug it in the garage. I like the Yamaha Viking, but I have the basic version (not a full cab). Great rig though

Maybe I've been out of the "game" for too long.
I remember when inquiring about any major purchase (refrigerator, vehicle, home) that salespeople wouldn't leave me alone.
I asked a few Kawasaki dealers about Mule prices a few weeks ago. A couple told me to call them. A couple followed up within a few weeks. I told the two who actually spent the few seconds to check in with me that I had decided to go Polaris. In the past, that would have resulted in a shitload of information/sales pitches about why I was making a bad decision. Now...I get an email saying "ok". I guess I don't miss the days of high pressure sales, but it sure is interesting to see how things have changed.

As a consumer there is no leverage...sucks

In the past, I'd contact a salesperson with a vehicle/options/price and they'd be on me like stink on shit trying to sell me a vehicle. Now, they couldn't care less. I wonder how long this "phase" lasts...

I damn near walked out of the sales manager office when we bought our 2015 Escape. The salesman was great. Passed us off to the manager to "close the deal" and I just kept getting angrier and angrier. The fucker wanted to sell that extended warranty. When I told him that he and I were both betting on the same thing, that the car was good and wouldn't need shit for years he got pissed. My wife was pinching my arm telling me to calm the fuck down. I'll never buy another vehicle from Nelson Ford in Fergus Falls, MN ....

When I was looking for an atv I decided in a Polaris sportsman 500. I emailed a couple local dealers and told them to give me quote that was the amount i write the check for. The sales guy gave me the price and I said that is a deal and I'll stop by that night with the check.
I got there and the idiot sales Guy's manager said the price he gave me didn't include tax, title, who knows what else even though I had an email stating that was the total price including everything. He said they wouldn't stand by the email, so I told him that was ridiculous and I'll never buy anything from them. I left and went to a Honda dealer and bought a foreign motorized vehicle even though I swore I never would buy anything other than American.
That Honda atv is an excellent machine and I'll likely never buy a different brand.

Here in OZ....lots of folks are buying cars from places like Auto Nation, Costco, and similar (names escape me) 3rd party sellers. The prices are low, the deal is fair, you can order what you want, and they will even deliver it to your home on a truck. They also buy used cars at fair prices.
Lots of people don't want to go thru the buying process. In these larger delarerships the sales guys are (mostly) idiots and aggressive as can be....while knowing nothing. Lots of games being played. time consuming to find a good person to work with. I used to enjoy making a deal on a new vehicle.....now I detest it.

I've been watching the ads for Carvana and laughing...but am now coming to understand that such car delivery/sales systems are the likely new "norm" I could order, pay for, have delivered, and return (if unsatisfied) a vehicle from Buffalo, MN. They'd have it here by Monday if I wanted (assuming it was inventoried). It gets pretty tempting to just go that route.

When we went to buy the golf cart, I told the girl if I wanted to switch tops with a different model she told me..."oh we can't do that". I said I was willing to pay an extra $5,000 for the gray top. She still insisted "oh we don't do that". I just smiled and said thanks. They r programed and have zero incentive to service a higher end client.
