That is some serious trapping numbers. I live box trap the occasional coon or possum to save a nest. I’d like to do more damage to them. I probably should get some dog proof. Coyote trapping is another issue. I’d just as likely catch a bobcat as a coyote. I released one at my cousins place last year and it wasn’t easy. I’d rather not be that close to a snarling cat. Yeah man more and more bobcat sighting every year. They need to open the books on bobcat I've never tangled with one lol

Damn thing sounded like the possessed girl in the Exorcist.

Welcome Trooper, some of us got kicked off HT several years ago. I noticed all those fox and coyote pelts in your photo. Are you a trapper as well? I thought I was the most dangerous killer on this site. Apparently not. You got some real cred there guy! What are those critters closest to you at the top of the picture?

Hahaha well I never met a coon or coyote that wasn't too dead Bob. My kill count has since dropped quite a bit since I hung it up lol. The block behind me at the top is coon, right below the beaver is a line of mink and a handful of muskrats

Awesome! I trap coons and yotes every winter for the same reasons you do. Always end up releasing a cat or two. They do make the most god awful sounds you can imagine. I caught one by hand once, it shredded my arm like you wouldn't believe. I left a blood trail that a guy would have sworn would lead to a dead deer.
Post up some of your yote sets. I'm always wanting to change things up for the ones that have gotten smart to my methods (usually a dirt-hole with some bait and lure). I need to trap some beavers. They cause all sorts of problems with our fences.

I usually use a step down dirthile with a 3" hole 2ft deep off an augers and flat sets. Also clip a lot of them with fence crawl unders on snares

Also clip a lot of them with fence crawl unders on snares When I grabbed him I pined him to the ground with my right hand. He instantly wormed around and started biting through my hand between the thumb and first finger. At the same time it latched onto my wrist by wrapping it's front arms around and sinking its claws in. Then the back legs came up and started repeatedly digging through my forearm with kicks. Fingertip to elbow was shredded within seconds. Name actually came from the song; Catscratch fever. I've never snared other than a few experimental tries when I was a kid. They say it's the easiest way to trap a yote but there's something about setting a trap that I find appealing. But I do feel I need to change things up a little. I'm sure I've educated plenty of the damn things over the years.

Bob does that to me, but he keeps the hind claws in the sheath. He kangaroo kicks the hell outta my forearm.

I mean I know they probably wouldn't attack unprovoked but jesus I didnt know they were that savage. I've been getting this mug on camera the last couple years

The Wisconsin DNR did a predator study in northern Wisconsin and a bobcat was documented killing an adult buck. If they can kill an adult buck they would do a number on a person if they felt inclined to do so.
I've had trail camera pictures of a few monster bobcats that certainly look like they could do some damage to fawns and small deer.

^^^ Nice! Here's one I stalked a couple of summers ago. Had to quit moving once we were close, but he came to me though.

Here's one we released last yr. Had a handful of kids running the line with me (first timer's). I don't use plywood or anything, just take my coat or coveralls off and throw that on them. Thought I'd show them how to release one and had intended to hold it by hand but it was quicker then I am so I chickened out and pulled out. This one was relatively quiet. They usually make some evil sounds.

That's cool. Do you guys not have an open season? We have a season, just don't always feel like killing them when prices have been low. Other critters don't get a pass.
