MDHA passed a position statement that adult antlerless should not be held with youth seasons. Youth seasons should be just for youth.
I would prefer that over the present situation but did not really like the wording of the statement. If I remember correctly, it specified adult antlerless to be 9 days after the mzzle hunt.
Just my thoughts, but 9 days is too long for this hunt and in northern areas, deer shouldn’t be pressured this late in the season. Most of those antlerless could be killed during the existing regular mzzle season. We don’t need firearms in the woods for another 9 days except in extreme circumstances.

JFC...just what we need, another week and a half of pressure. I agree that EA shouldn't coincide with the youth hunt, but it sure as hell doesn't need to be 9 days long?!!

Don't think any northern areas get the antlerless only hunts. That's a central and southern MN thing. Liking the 9 days as bad weather can screw up any 2 days for hunting that time of the year and the 9 days gives two weekends.
The early antlerless and youth hunts should be trashed. Also the week of archery before gun opener.

That’s my favorite week of the entire season to bow hunt.

If we closed bow hunting around Halloween, there’d be no bow hunting at all in October because the gun guys are running all over the woods in October getting ready for November.

Earlier on, you’d see a handful every season. I think the word got out that the numbers were bad by me. And they were. The government is way behind in logging around me. You could punt a football thru the woods behind me and not hit brush damn near anywhere.

That’s my favorite week of the entire season to bow hunt. As it is for many others too. Fucks up gun season just like youth and EA seasons. Might as well keep the youth and EA seasons around if all three don't get trashed.

Where can one find this statement? I can’t seem to find the exact wording right now. The resolution came from the Kimball area chapter. I am the only one in our chapter to vote against it and I didn’t like the idea of a specified 9 day season. Just my opinion, but a late antlerless hunt should only be 2-4 days except in extreme circumstances. I would prefer wording to specify a ‘short’ season or just a statement to keep the adult antlerless separate from youth hunts. Like many, I don’t know what these seasons will accomplish for hunter retainment in the long run.

Saw that they also changed the muzzleloader reg as well to throw a bone to federal so people can use the federal firestick deals where you load the primer/powder stick from the breech. My smokeless muzzleloader is a more efficient system than the firestick guns so I cant complain from a lethality standpoint but it is just another sign of game regulation likely being made by industry.
Looks like there is an edit to prevent adults from shooting a deer and putting a youth tag on it while party hunting which is a good move IMO.

No early November bow hunting ?? OMG Spoken like a true Minnesota gun hunter. The reason the state sucks is because of the early November gun season. Now Crossbows, and all these extra gun seasons . We are facing capitulation (the bottom) and it is only getting worse. Add rifles statewide and it’s officially as bad of regulations as any state.

The early November gun season isn't changing. Might as well embrace it as the best part of our deer season.
