I bet the DNR and the MN legislature are thinking what next .. we need something new . More deer shot, fewer mature bucks !! I’m sure the rifle statewide will happen. Then what ? 2 buck tags per hunter ?.. they won’t stop! It will be something out of left field ! Re-introduce bison.
Think Sandbur hates turkeys, just wait.
I've thought for a long time that they should re-introduce bison on many large public properties and then offer hunts.

How many acres is your neighbor's place that offers those exotic hunts? "Rams On The Ridge is a 2-day outfitter on a 140 acre stretch of land in beautiful Long Prairie, Minnesota."
from the link.

I worked on a few of those and dang near got hurt badly. I made it out by a fraction of a second. One client of mine was in the hospital for quite a period after he had a buffalo bull horn right next to his rectum. He then sold the dang things.

Our state is spending millions to put elk in NE Minnesota. I think the wolves will manage that herd.

I'm pretty negative on MN deer hunting but some of you's got me beat. In regards to having the worst regs in the country - I worked in South Carolina for a bit where gun season is august 15 - Jan 1st, limit is 5 bucks, and you can hunt with dogs!
The DNR isn't without faults but I think the regs largely reflect trying to achieve what the majority of hunters ask for and what our politicians get lobbied on. It does seem like we lack good grass roots engagement from people who desire quality hunting in MN. Anytime a whiff of some legislation or season setting non-sense comes up in MT, the news is on hunttalk and people are engaged. IA actually has hunters putting up a fight against the crossbow and ag lobbies when they try to push garbage. In MN? Hardly a peep.

IA actually has hunters putting up a fight against the crossbow and ag lobbies when they try to push garbage. In MN? Hardly a peep. Too many still believe the deer orgs are on their side. They are merely controlled opposition. I’ve written off change at the state level long ago. We’ve only got so many dollars and hours to throw at stuff. I focus on my little world and change what I can, and adapt to what I can’t. I was all bent out of shape over how much sloppy intrusion there is all around me in mid October as the late comers just begin setting up stands and raising hell in the woods to get ready for gun season. I’ll never have a natural bow hunt off my property because of that. That’s shitty. But how I’ve adapted to it, is quite the success story. All summer and early fall, I may have a large doe family on my place (like 3-5 total). But once the fuds show up and blow out every acre of public land around me, my property fills up with displaced deer, and they stay once they see what’s going on. Come Halloween, I’ll have upwards of 20 deer crossing the line every day. Last fall, I had a group of 6 young bucks hitting my road plot every night leading up to gun opener. Even had a big basket 8 walk into a food plot and eat in late October. That was a first.

You must be real close to my best friends' family's place out there. They are about 2.5 miles south of where the superstars hunt fenced livestock. Some nice bucks in that area.

How many acres is your neighbor's place that offers those exotic hunts? He owns around 320 acres total. Does the "hunts" on 140 as previously posted edit...I just re-counted his acreage. I had missed a few chunks. He's got closer to 700 than 300

Well, there used to also be Autumn Antlers. That was maybe 7 miles northeast of me as the crow flies. They shot a lot more and lot bigger animals out there than the neighbor does. At one point I think the SCI world record was from Autumn Antlers. If they're 2.5 miles south of my neighbor, they'd be south of Hwy. 12?
