full regs: files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/hunting/full_regs.pdf?20230801-06"⁕NEW—Members of a hunting party may not tag a legal buck or antlerless deer for any member of their party hunting with a youth license." Anyone care to translate to normal talk? My interpretation is that youths can no longer fill other hunter's tags. Always thought the opposite applied, too. So that would make it so that youths cannot party hunt at all. Not so sure about all that.

Not much change for my area, I guess the dead deer this spring didn’t affect their decision?

I was told by my DNR rep that “we will have to factor in the reports of dead deer” . He had several calls. It wasn’t like they were wiped out or anything, but we lost a number of fawns and it was worse in more open farm country.
Still no changes.

In some lakes you can keep 6 walleyes, but only 5 sunfish !

My land is in 157 that was up for goal setting review this past year. During the public address reviewing the goal setting they said there are something like 43 deer per square mile in the unit (which seems crazy but maybe in other parts of the unit?). Yet they saw it fit to bring it from 2 deer limit to a 1 deer/either sex. I don't get it.
9% fewer bucks got shot in '22 with 2 deer limit than in '21 when it was 1 deer either sex. I'd guess that has more to do with hunters being able to shoot a doe and still hunt for bucks rather than feeling like they had to put their 1 and only tag on a dink buck instead of a doe.

Also - happy to see they at least removed 679 from 2 deer limit and down to 1 either sex. Deer were hurting there before they freaking opened up on the does and had tough winters back to back..

Yep Nope The adult buck population is certainly well below where I'd like it to be. I am not a fan of youth hunts and EA seasons. Show me some evidence that a youth hunt actually contributes to young hunters becoming life long hunters and maybe I'd change my mind. All EA does here is fuck up pre-rut buck patterns.
