Baby chunk is a ham and ball of energy. Can’t believe how quick they grow! The house has treated us really well. I hate living in town and now they are building houses the back up to out north line. We knew it was happening when we bought it, but still sucks. At least they are 65+ housing and there is a tree line between us. I had a bad year hunting. Lots of opportunities and just couldn’t capitalize plus wounded my first buck. Learned a lot and excited to chase some turkeys this spring. I don’t have a single deer bigger than a fork on camera since the Orange army was out, just shocked I haven’t had a single one since! This one trotted by me to the beans early season @ 16 yards Hit this one the Sunday morning before rifle season Buddy shot this one on the property kiddy corner to where I had him all fall the Wednesday morning before rifle season And had this one coming at 60 yds after calling to him before a buck started chasing a doe and he took off after them Was after this one too Only made it to this property once this fall, kicking myself because the bucks didn’t move in until a week before rifle. nice bucks and a great picture of your son!

Those are some great bucks! Where do you think you hit the buck you lost? Your son looks like he is a future pumpkin grower. There is always room for a few more hills of pumpkins.
Do you still hunt your grandma's old place at all? Maybe you posted it, but I can't remember if that was sold or kept in the family.

The picture of the grinning kid is the best trophy of them all.

Didn't get much penetration, blood ran out after about 300 yards of searching. Buddy got him on cam the night before rifle opener and I have a feeling the neighbor to the north got him. I don't hunt at Grandmas, they ended up selling it. I have kept my distance from there, as I'm unsure if they bought it for hunting, but plan on going to ask about helping them prune the remaining trees/turkey hunt this spring. It would be a really good spot to have again since its much closer to my new home than my other spots.

The picture of the grinning kid is the best trophy of them all. Absolutely. The kid is always smiling, which in turn, usually makes my crummy days better!

Swung by Grandmas old place to see if there was any chance at permission to bow hunt this fall.... No dice, as he said he is getting less busy and going to try and bow hunt this fall. He said he has seen some really nice deer he sees out back at times.
I asked him how the apple trees were doing, and he walked me behind the barn and my heart sunk, lol. He thought they were doing okay. He tore out 4 of my grandpas old trees and 3 of the ones I had planted there were dead. Only 4 rough looking stragglers remain of ones I planted and 2 of the "original" trees. Apparently my watering/spray was keeping them going when I cared for the place! It was cool to see that the Switch I had planted 3 or 4 years ago way taking off like crazy.
Guy was super nice and I was glad I stopped. I mentioned that I graft trees and would love to grab some scion from the remaining Paula Red tree there this winter so I can graft one for my yard. I might ask to turkey hunt at that time. I got the feeling that he might not hunt this year, so maybe I can slowly work my way in. We shall see!
