$155 for a 1/4 acre worth. That'd be Ed Spinnazola selling those

I was more pondering if this is legal?
I thought RR Beets were taboo stuff.

I was more pondering if this is legal? I thought RR Beets were taboo stuff. Ed Spin never stopped selling them. His assertion is that he can sell them as long as he says they must not be used for foodplots. As far as I can tell, Ed and his business associates are the only ones selling them to the "general public"

Someday I might try them. With my planter I need special plates/parts to make it work and they are expensive. I'm thinking of a new planter so I'll probably wait until I get that figured out.
If they produce the tonnage they claim they would be a nice addition to my corn/soybean plot.

I didn't purchase from Ed Spin... Just kept asking. Worked every angle that came to mind. Last year I got dead seed, this year, I think I may have found a reliable connection.

I had to plant them on my best soil to get any decent growth. I would advise not planting them on your lighter soils. Stick to turnips and hope for rain (and hope the deer will eat either one).

Did a little spot spraying in my Sugar Beets. I think they're coming along nicely but I've never done SB's before.

Looks good to me too, but I've never planted them before either. Keep posting the pics, interesting thread!

I have a pair of these plates (2 rows sugar beet bottoms) to fit a JD 71 planter if someone wants to buy 'em. I am done with sugar beet planting.

But I did not have the right plate size for the beets I had.....so I ended up broadcasting mine (and failed to take care of em.) I believe I paid a bit over $100 for them. Get them ready long before the season.....would be my advice. And, get your best ground ready (weed freee) in fall for an early planting. I dont think I have the right ground for beets. Too sandy to keep some moisture?.....and I don't take care of stuff on a timely basis. FORE!
