Why do they need to be insulated? Mine the boys brought down stays warm with out insulation. The carpeted floor keeps them pretty silent also. Agree. Mr buddy heater keeps the uninsulated ones warm in below zero weather.

1/2 inch of foam will get those big MO bucks dead on the ground. Its all you are missing. How hot do you need to be in a box blind? I run with a window or two open now. Remember he is only wearing a loincloth and carrying a spear. updrafts are a real problem.

For what it is worth I am going to try and make two box blinds this summer by making a frame wrapping with wire mesh and spray foaming outside of frame then painting with uv resistant paint. I am told it should work but haven't tried it yet. I don't know if this is an option or if it would add allot of weight you don't want but what about using a chopper gun and spraying a thin coat of fiber glass? it would be fast and make the shell weatherproof.

It's been awhile but I have seen them used.

It's been awhile but I have seen them used. I've seen many chopper-guns used to manufacture things. What is done tho......is to use a mold to shoot the material agains.....and then they typically use a roller to press the fiberglass / resin mixture against the mold. After the glass / resin cures.....it's then de-molded. If you try to do this over a screen or other fabric.....I predict you would have lots of problems to both stop the media, and to support the material and press it against the fabric "mold". Maybe if a wire mold were covered with a fabric like window screen??? Dunno.

Yep, that's what I have seen also. if you built your blind; wire and foam insulation, maybe you could spray right on the this exterior and use a roller with resin to smooth it out? If you had larger sheets of fiberglass sheets you could wrap the whole unit. fiberglass would be more work but it would make the units weatherproof.

Maybe.....but best to try some of the resin on the foam to be sure it wont attack the foam.....and deteriorate that material before it hardens up. Same with any screen or fabric. Some of those resins are not too friendly. . I once fiberglassed my hands to a bunch rags when repairing the fenders on an old Jeep Wagoneer. THEN I went looking for a solvent to remove that stuff from my hands. None of the chemicals I had would work! I wrapped my hands in towels and went to the Coast to Coast store.....desperate for a can of lauqer thinner. The owner laughed his ass off at me and my hands stuck to a bunch of rags. .

Moved one of my prototypes at 65 mph today. Unit weighs about 90 pounds. Insulated. Went well.
