My area manager agreed that the bag limit of 10 or whatever shouldn't be the whole county, but they don't have ability to manage on smaller scale. He says there a farmers in Money Creek who shoot 30-50 deer every year and the numbers are still high There's an exceptional area, southeast of money creek a few miles. We used to booze cruise Paradise Drive/Doblar Rd area and see epic herds, including trophy bachelor groups. But that was confined to a very small area. Here's the route we'd drive. I don't think it's a secret at all, because we used to run into deer creepers all the time on that route. Where each of these arrows are located, there would be 5-50 deer in each spot, and at the same time. The good Lord built that area to grow deer. It's a deep wide valley, the bottom third is row crops, middle third is grass/hay full of clover, and the top third is hardwoods. Many times we'd count upwards of 150 deer in this couple mile stretch of valley. No place else in that area did we see deer like that. There is a guy right in there with 600 acres. This is his house. Something tells me he isn't worried about crop damage...

His hunting land is/was likely more valuable than his farmland. That area is like nothing I've ever seen. Don't forget to count the trout streams too.

There's a big difference between "do something" and "accomplish something." I bet they won't go any further than sharing how their feelings were hurt because they didn't get invited to the sleep over. I expect no criticism of the actual action.

Most people are pissed Most people that have commented are pissed...sure. I did notice a couple farmers who were quite happy with the prospect of herd reduction. I did find those pages entertaining...nothing will come from the comments/dissatisfaction however

Was talking with Welch and the big story to me is the DNR must have FORGOTTEN they had to do public input meetings before changes like a January deer season.
Somebody must have said 'Don't we have to hold bogus rhetoric sessions before extending deer season into next year'.
Oops.

So what's the reason for the delay in the regs?

They are required to hold public input meetings. The key here is to hold the meetings and listen to the public. Doesn't mean they have to do anything the public wants. The process is a total work around and sham.
