Terrible. Pages 5-6 of this thread has more details. Not sure if they ever got back to Stu on his complaints. I’m guessing I’ll have less than 25% survival on mine. They did get back to me and offered to send me bareroots instead. I declined their offer. I still have their styroblock full of spruce sitting on the east side of my house. I decided to grow them out for the summer and will plant (or at least try to plant) them next month. I will say almost 100% of them are still alive in the styroblock.

Did they comment on their lack of quality at all? Have they put on any size in styroblock?

No, they haven't put on any size in the styroblock. I'm guessing they knew what they were sending out wasn't a good quality product. I hope they have learned something and will not send shit like that out again. I'm not ready to give them another chance though.

Might try to throw them in the ground when it cools down or we get some real rain.

Just an FYI...University of ID is now taking orders for fall or spring plugs. They don't have much for evergreen plugs in the smaller sizes though.

I tried planting some of the lodholz plugs this past weekend. Still pieces of shit. They’ll be a total waste. Live and learn. Maybe I’ll order some from itasca but not thrilled with extracted plugs.

I haven't tried mine yet, was planning on planting them this week. If they're still as bad as they were in spring, I'll probably just toss 'em. I haven't ordered from Itasca, so I have no idea what their plugs are like. Those that I've received from U of ID have always been great. The last two years they haven't had much for evergreens that I want in the smaller sizes though. I ordered 50 various pines and spruce in the 20 cu in" size. I may order 100 bareroot spruce from somewhere for spring. That will be about it.

Last time I check they were doing really well. Will probably order some more from there for next spring.

Good survival in the right places. I’m just not sure how the extracted plugs will hold up in shipping. I use a plug planter.

I ordered one size larger than my plug planter which took care of the shipping related size reduction. I figured I could always make the hole a little bigger. I didn’t want to be backfilling plugs though.

The 5 and 8 cu. in. plugs I've received from U of ID are extracted. They survive shipping in great shape. Like honker, if I need to make the hole a bit larger it's easily done with the plug tool.

Planted my plugs from Lodholz this morning. 99% of them were nice plugs now. All Lodholz needed to do was grow them out for another year. Next spring they would have been fine.

Mine didn't grow for shit. But I didn't exactly care for them this summer. Half were dead. Oh well. They weren't that expensive.
