I think it was $180 five years ago Do you know if this would work for homemade stew, chili, soups, beans etc.?

Pressure cooker/canner. Been thinking of picking one up, any suggestions? Stove top or an electric model, one better than the other?

Been really looking into doing some canning. But before I drop the $$$$$$ to buy one I had lots of questions, since I'm a complete idiot on this subject. I sent an Email off to our resident expert with them. Low and behold a a few hours later the phone rang and to my surprise it was our man SD. He answered all my questions and even gave me some suggestions. So after we talked I burned up the line and found a pressure canner I could borrow to make a batch. So a week from today I going to give it a try. Till then it getting supplies and finding the right recipe/formula to follow. My first try is going to be with beef. If all goes as planned some beef stew, some just with beef and some with just taters. Can't thank you enough Chris thanks for the call.

You'll be mad scientisting with your own stews and meals in no time. Beware though, it'll be hard to go back to grid soup after you've made your own.

I have been tempted to get into canning. Haven’t taken the big step yet. It's a great hobby. Scratches my itch to create, eat better, reduces grid vulnerability, and makes for a quick meal when you don't want to cook.
