I’ll take this one. No flow agents like calcium silicate which predispose HBP folks to BP spikes. Mined salt vs cavern or solar salt retains minerals. It’s like human trophy rock. Trace minerals, no BP spike, harder boners.

Further, good salt escorts water into cells and helps regulate water function. Pissing well regulates body water and helps solubilize fats vs storing them.
This is opposed to retaining water.

I think BP is blood pressure.

Just popped open a jar of venison I canned the other day. Cold right out of the jar, best venison I've ever had. Tender and tasty. Having it tonight over egg noodles. Tonight jar was venison only. Next time it will be either the one with rice or barley. Pressure cooker/canner is by far my best purchase of 2020.

Is canning the same as Corning?

Wife and I got the small doe cut up and wrapped today. Just over 8lbs going in the pressure cooker tomorrow. Venison, barley, salt and pepper. Going to give a few to the guy who let me hunt the round bales.

Going to give a few to the guy who let me hunt the round bales. That's awesome! I gave the old farts next door a jar of bear (I bought my place from them, and I bear hunted their land via the guide) and they were pretty tickled. That will go a long way. I still need to try just adding barley to the meat. I've done the full blown stew with barley, but not barley and meat.

OK. I won't be getting to the farm any time soon. M-I-L is Covid Aware. Nobody's allowed to visit. (As an aside, I'll have to remember this when it's my turn. Seems like a decent way to get people to leave me alone.) So, I guess it's up to me.
Is that no gasket cast aluminum deal the way to go? I prefer to buy quality once than start with crap. Second question. Is the 10.5 qt model too small? I'll be canning for two really. So I think it'll be mostly pints, not quarts in my future.

Second question. Is the 10.5 qt model too small? I'll be canning for two really. So I think it'll be mostly pints, not quarts in my future. I asked myself the same questions over and over. The no gasket aluminum is top of the line or sure but it's also way more expensive, $325+ compared to the one I got for under $90. They all do the same job. I figured for the amount I'll be doing (canning for 2) and the research I did I went with the Presto gasketed model. I will never do quart's and mine holds 10 pints. I'm more than happy with it and I've used it 7 times since I bought it. The gasket is showing no signs of wear and has never given me any problems, just follow directions and the gasket will last years. Either one works and they are big and clumsy to store. I also figured to start of with the cheaper model to see if I'd like canning or if it was just a passing thing. I like doing it and the end results are great. I have no plans to upgrade to a gasketless model or see the need to. I've also pressure cooked in mine and the end results are great. Now I'm looking at a combination air fryer/ pressure cooker to use just for cooking. deerhabitat.freeforums.net/thread/1383/canning?page=3 4th post down is what I bought.

When I bought mine, I was preparing for the end of the world as we know it. I still like the big one cause I still do big production when I get it out. Bigger batches mean fewer batches to get through something. If you're just doing some hobby stuff or part of a deer once a year, I'd go with a small one. If you're getting ready to get the abandoned missile silo provisioned, I'd go big.
