Bottom line. Is Whip going to be able to buy a forested chunk of land. Cut it and put it in the MFL? I dont know about whip, but I tell these HS schools all the time to go work construction right out of HS. They can make $80K a year, while all their friends are spending $40k a year on a education. The money that they will be so far ahead with, they could pay cash for a farm in 10 years when everyone out of college is still paying off student loans!

Those aren't skills that an 18 year old is going to need. Check book? WTF is a check book? Very few people under 35 have check books. Divide? Those kids have a more powerful computer in their hands than we had on our desktops 10 years ago. You're a dinosaur MO, life is changing, we either change with it or get left behind. FWIW...old people have been saying the same things about young people...since there were people Old dinosaur? Yep, a fucking rich old dino with a 9th grade education........ There are a fair number of guys that "got their education out behind the barn". (an old song not many ppl know anymore) I never got enough formal education either.....but if you got a little street savvy and keep your head......and know a little persistence and have a little intestinal fortitude.......then, you can still make it in the USA. Or....at least you could when I was growing up. Not easy.....but a good man can git 'er done. WTG MO Buck!

I have a question I don't have the answer too. How is mo paying 300 bucks for 120 acres and I'm paying 2000 for 40 acres ? Do they not educate kids at all in mo? I really don't know the answer. Where is that money going?

Where is that money going? Here is part of the difference Brad. They have higher sales tax and taxes on stuff that we don't.

Where is that money going? All your tax money is being squandered on the likes of the Packers. Save your money and move west or south. Just saying. SKOAL!

I think I pay around $350 in tax for my 60 acres.
I think the real difference is MO and Ohio are not the extreme liberal bastions that MN and WI are. From and outsider perspective, those states seem to have a goal of punishing you rich landowners.

How does AG land fair in comparison to rec land in Sconny? Here in EC MN I pay about $24 acre. Does that compare with WI AG land?
Edit: I should say, $24 covers my home and all the buildings as well.

I pay a little over $13 an acre. About 2/3 of my property is Ag forest which is more than AG. They do not separate on tax bill

I know this is a personal topic for some on here for sure. I didn't want to offend anyone and hope I didn't. But as we all know this is a polarizing topic for sure.

My kids tell me all the time I should be a teacher......then we all bust out laughing!!!! Between having to cut my pay in 1/2 and then having to put up with all the crap a teacher does today......I'd be fired in less than a full day. Between my cursing and wanting to throttle the first kid that pushed it - it would not be good. I didn't raise my kids in a "time-out" environment. They got an ass beating when they deserved it.....turns out that is frowned upon now days! Give me a group of kids that truly want to learn and are excited about a subject - then, and only then, would I even remotely consider it. Any more most of it is over priced day care with an attempt to teach the kids something and trying to keep the students from destroying the place! It also floors me how un-involved many parents are with the kids schooling. Parents simply expect the school system to raise them now days.....
Teachers and public servants (fire, police, EMT's) are the most important yet under appreciated folks in our society today. Professors.....that a TOTALLY different story.
