If your soil test says 6000# per acre, by using pell lime. adding 500# per acre would work short term. Pell lime is fast acting, you would have to ad 500# 4 years down the road, and do every 4 years until ph comes up. 6000# of regular lime at one time would be to much. I was told by the local cooperative expert that you can do as much as your soil test calls for at one time as long as you incorporate it good. In other words you can't just put 6000# per acre down on the top and expect it to work right. But if you put down 6000# or more per acre and you work it in the soil that is fine.

I didn’t real all of the thread again, but had two thoughts.
How does dairy pit manure and poultry manure do for supplying these elements?
Does feeding ethanol by products change the sulfur level in manure?

Does feeding ethanol by products change the sulfur level in manure? Those manures are all different. The difference in laying hens vs broilers is even different. I don't know enough about each one to tell ya what you can get. I've never had it available to me, so I haven't done much digging on it. General rule is you're going to get some of about everything, but it won't be complete. Doesn't mean it won't be a huge improvement though either.

I'd love to use epsom salt, I haven't been able to find it any affordable quantity. Gypsum at Menards is 15 cents/lb. Empsom salt, best I found, was $1/lb.

Would Epsom salt be cheaper than gypsum + the lime it would take to fix the pH?

Would Epsom salt be cheaper than gypsum + the lime it would take to fix the pH? You'd still need lime no matter what you did. Both gypsum and epsom salt are pH neutral. It'd be neat to see some options like that, but everywhere I've been, the offerings are all the same. MAP Urea AMS Potash I don't even see much lime, sulfur, and gypsum around. "You want sulfur, put on AMS."

I need to have a consult with MO (and possible SD) later this year after some golf. I plan to get a fertilizer "buggy" loaded with needed soil nutrients this year. If I buy 6000 lbs or more....they will supply a PTO driven budgey to my land.....and I can apply it with my tractor. I can choose the ratios of NPK, pell lime, sulfur, (gypsum?) and more. If memory serves the filled buggy would run me from $600 to $800 depending on what I choose for the mix. Would save allot of work and mixing, etc. I need to get to the feed store and do a visit with the manager and firm up the prices. I think I am going to do some corn and those liberty beans this year. Gonna be expensive....but what the hell........if SD can do it.....so will I. ......only with some real horse-POWER. I'm getting too old to fool around with a leaf blower.

I know my wife sits in a whirlpool tub full of epsom salt a number of times a year. She says it takes all the negative shit and toxins out of her body. My opinion would differ slightly
