What the hell is Luke fish anyway? Wasn't that on Bizzar Foods once? My wife won't eat fish. Tried seafood in Main, Virginia, and Oregon. Wants to like it, always ends up giving it to me. Lutefisk is North Atlantic Cod that has been preserved in lye. You have to soak the shit in fresh water for days (changing the water daily) before it's edible. Then you boil it...and it turns into fish jello (sorry, that's what it is to me...aficionados would object). Serve it with a bunch of lefse and hopefully enough melted butter to make it edible. Seriously...there are a lot of people in WI and MN (and elsewhere...I don't know?) who love the stuff. This time of the year there is a lutefisk circuit. Lutheran churches will alternate with lutefisk feeds.

Mild is good, jello and lye doe not sound good to me.

^^^I can't stand lutefisk. Never could. Thankfully, most of the feeds my folks made me go to when I was a kid also served Swedish meatballs. Now THOSE were worth eating. I'd fill up on meatballs, lefse, boiled 'taters covered with butter and desserts.
No wonder I've pushed 280 several times

Had to google lefse. That one sounds good. Much better than fish jello'd in lye.
Die Hard is on... Best Christmas movie ever! I'm done in the shop for the night, time to get comfy in the house.

He said it arrived on the docks in St Paul as bales of dried fish. Every dog that went by pissed on it. Then the Scandinavians bought It and ate it. Sorry if this offends anyone. I am sure it is handled differently from 100 years ago.

I am sure it is handled differently from 100 years ago. It's kind of crazy to think about the conflicts that used to occur between Catholics and Protestants not that long ago. When I first introduced my late wife to my Grandma (a lifelong Methodist), the first thing Grandma said was "she's not a Catholic is she?" That was back in the day when the IRA was still bombing the shit out of the UK.

I live 60 miles from Door County. Make the annual trip up there with wife almost every year. They do have some good wine up there. The last time up there came home with a case of wine.

Door Peninsula Winery is our favorite. There are others that are good as well. Door County is a pretty cool area, worth seeing/touring at least once a lifetime IMHO

Last time up we visited friends that were camping at Peninsula State Park. Cool state park. Going over to Washington Island is a fun time also.

Bike riding, hiking, fishing, golfing (ick), camping and Fish Creek is right there for shopping/dining/drinking or other lodging options. Fish Creek is our favorite little town on the peninsula, but the other towns are fun to visit as well. Having breakfast at Al Johnson's in Sister Bay is pretty much a requirement for us. Nothing like Swedish pancakes with lingonberry jam and maple syrup. Always have to take a pic of the goats grazing on the roof of the restaurant

Yes Zimmern ate some at a Lutheran church feed I believe. He even struggled with it. Stuff looks nasty as shit. I haven’t had it much but lefse is pretty good.
