Just drove by an alfalfa field a mile from the cabin. Over 30 deer in a group. 13 bucks i could count. I do not think I have ever seen that big of a group in Mn. Incredible to see.

The Duluth paper had one sentence saying there may be a special early deer season in the 600 series zone by Merrifield.
Has anyone seen specifics?
Foggy, are you ready for this?

My zone is 643 and they just added two December gun hunts to try to kill all the deer. This is the first year my land is in the cwd zone. They will likely add January hunts after this since that's what they did last year in the cwd zones.
My early winter habitat work will have to take place right by my house only so I don't scare deer out of my main woods during the endless gun hunts.

^ Wow, how can you not see these types of policies as nothing more than an attempt to completely destroy the herd? I wonder how long this kind of policy will be in place? Will the DNR ever be pacified or is CWD an excuse to keep deer numbers artificially lower forever?
If this happened in my area I would work with my neighbors to manage trigger control.
Sorry Ben, hopefully this will pass and that area can go back to its potential.
