I think a plan that generally copied the redneck template with horizontal oriented gun windows on the sides and vertical oriented bow windows in the corners would be the way to go. If I had a bunch of leftover wood sitting around and a ton of free time I'd probably try to build one myself but I don't think it would be as nice as the Redneck. You can buy a soft sided redneck for cheaper than you can build one, at least with current wood prices. I put two up this year with plans to put two up next year. This years two are on 8' high platforms. Next years will be more ground blinds on 2' +/- platforms, brushed in really well. We took a rifle deer out of each one this past week. Someday I'll get the real Redneck, but for now the soft side will do.

My blind has the tall vertical Windows on the corners to shoot through with the bow. The windows are plenty wide to shoot through and the stand is very well designed in general.
Ok, thanks. Was concerned about an arrow bouncing around in the blind!!!
Still debating buying or building a blind. Have time with Covid staying at home. Still looking for a plan on online, not sure of my construction skills. Also thinking by the time I buy all the materials, treated lumber, windows doors that I may as well buy one.
That's what I think too. And, I'd get a better blind if I bought it than if I built it myself.

Found the plans for this blind online -- As primarily a bowhunter I like the looks of this blind. Need to go thru the videos again, and then decide whether I want to spend the time, would I rather be ice fishing this winter?? Yes lumber is expensive but $1500 and time vs. the $3-4000 for a Redneck or Carstens blind.....

I have one Redneck Crossover Blind, four wooden box blinds, and four Rotomolded plastic blinds. The Redneck is hands-down the best of them all. But.....I may have about $600 apiece in the wooden and rotomolded blinds for an investment of $4800. If they were all Rednecks at $3000 per copy that would be another $24,000 in blinds. Seems a bit much when I do the math. I have all our blinds elevated to about 10 feet high....and feel it's much safer to be off the ground level.
I have two that did not get sat in this year. I hate those trap door blinds. Noisy and hard for this old body to negotiate them things. Gotta replace a few blinds over time.

I don’t know what the boys are charging now but you can get a blind with corner windows on 12’ legs delivered and stood up for less than $2K still I bet. Provided you ain’t to far away from Mora. I don't know what they're charging now either, but the $2900 I spent for two of them to be delivered and set up was likely some of the most productive money I've spent on deer hunting here. My SIL and I each shot a decent buck out of one of them this year. They were set up in early September. SIL shot his buck in early October and I shot mine opening Sunday of firearm. He passed on a few bucks before shooting his and so did I. It apparently didn't take long for bucks to get used to the stands being there.

All reports are that these are young, hardworking guys. That gives them a plus in my book! We need more of them in this country.
