2014 e550 specs
Can you tell us the metrics of accountability that will be used to measure progress towards the new deer population goals? We do have a performance measure webpage that tracks the percentage of DPAs within goal range. I’m currently working to update that for this year and show more historical trends than reporting just the “% in goal range” each year. We will also be adding a dashboard page for the WTD management plan to track all the performance metrics outlined in the plan. Can you tell us how the process will be a legitimate reflection of public desire? We’ve heard from the hunting public that they prefer to provide input on deer populations via public meetings and online surveys. Thus we have changed the public input process for population goal setting to move away from multiple advisory teams to be more inclusive and transparent. Any member of the public can attend a goal setting workshop and participate in the process. The final recommendation will always be based on the best available science, population health, and public input. Brooks

Trying to find out the details. Might organize some fundraisers and pay guys to go to the meetings and influence policy. Couple pint nights in the area with MNBowhunters paying $10 a head with a chance to wind $1,000. Be fun to advertise.

Talked with Barb Keller (MN big game) today.
She does not know if the online survey data will be ready for the goal setting meetings. (has not been released yet and meetings start Jan 21rst)
She does not know if the folks that show will be voting for goals.
She does not know if the ag and forestry issues they will be discussing are available to share with those who attend.
She did not know very much.

www.surveymonkey.com/r/DeerGoalSetting2020Blue zones does this year. Take the survey if your zone is up this year, or find a friend whose zone is being reviewed. I did Arts zone and let them know the deer are disrupting my turkey hunts and need to be killed.

^^^ugly as in lots of farmers in the crowd talking about way too many deer? That's what the guys who farm west of me towards Osakis are saying.

I think there's still value in the survey. It's good for them to gauge how quickly they're losing the public trust so they can roll out new gimmicks and tricks to keep the lead flying. For example, maybe they declare victory in Brainerd after this upcoming season, as a way to save faith in the cull elsewhere. Maybe they surrender Brainerd back to the deer to keep their eye on the bigger prize areas elsewhere.

Once they get a foothold, I don't see them relinquishing it. I expect that "CWD area" to get linked to one to the south and west this year thanks to the game farm CWD+ in Osakis.
