SmallChunk, I will gladly help you out with any scion I have. Same for Stu or Carl or any of the regulars on here. Stu, please save a stick of Smitty’s or anything else that is very interesting.Anything in particular you're looking for besides the Smitty's? Did your Golden Russet grafts take last spring? I'll have plenty of scions if you want another one (or ten). I'll probably start pruning late this week or early next week.

First time in many years that I can drive to my furthest outback tree with the pickup and unload a ladder. It has been snowshoes for many years.

I was in LP today so I figured I'd grab some scions off of Tank. It is still holding a bunch of fruit. Every time I'd move a branch to snip a scion, a number of fruit would fall to the ground. A bunch of those trees would be a great source of calories late in the season for deer and other critters. The scions are small as I am pretty much just snipping off branch tips. They should be workable though.
I also pruned a few trees in one orchard and grabbed a few scions there.

I think my Golden Russets took, but if you have 1 or 2 scion, that would be fine.

I'll be grafting it to another few wild crabs this spring.

It was small, but tasty.

I didn't have my phone with me, so I didn't snap a pic. I was gathering scions and pruning today. Found what I believe to be a tent caterpillar egg mass. Looked just like this Pulled it off and crumbled it up. Always good to keep an eye out for them when pruning.

Those tent caterpillars are nasty bugs. They must taste like crap because they sure appear like something that would be easy for a woodpecker or other bird to find and eat. I'll have to keep an eye out for them while pruning in the next week or two.

I have been clipping scion and trying to train my left hand to do the work. Carpal tunnels are acting up on the right. The left hand had surgery many years ago, probably 20.

Grabbed a few scions of Courthouse Crab today. There's some really nice ones up high, but I only had my hand pruners. I should have got at least got some workable scions anyway. Also grabbed some off a couple wild roadside crabs. I believe I'm about done gathering scions.

I'll be collecting scion by my house this weekend and hopefully up at my cabin next weekend. It is hard to believe that February is almost over already.
