Ohio land owner tag.
Nothing is purchased. I shoot a deer, I’m suppose to hand write a tag and attach to deer. I can go on the ODNR website and check the deer in.
The only reason I bought a tag was to hunt a different property.

I grabbed One every year. No one ever called. That doesn't mean your name didn't appear on some government list. If it didn't, then it was a mistake by somebody at some level...which given our state government doesn't surprise me a bit. Why would I care if my name is on one more govt list?

Why would I want any government attention drawn to me and/or my property? DNR rolls through here frequently. If I was on the ag landowner tag list it would just give the guy a reason to stop here, he knows this land isn't zoned ag. I'd rather he focus his attention on the hillbilly baiters/poachers.

State farm offered me 5% off my car insurance if they could put their monitor in my vehicle. I know the guy well enough that I can give him a little shit, so I told him I'd give him 5% and he can shove it up his ass.
All that shit, "give us some rights, give us some data, give us some access, give us some control. We'll throw you a few bucks." They can all eat my ass. Whether a property is worth $40,000 or $400,000 why even risk a slim chance at a headache to save that little bit of money?

I also wonder if it would be a bit harder to work on a trespass issue during season if your name was on the list. Someone could just claim they didn’t know they needed permission. Batman, the doe tags are half price. Not $40.

The tag would sort of allow the DNR officer to hunt the property (when not working.) With him/her rolling by often they probably know if you are allowing some public hunting, then if you also tell the DNR person 'no' it could get you in some trouble for not actually allowing public hunting.
I can't think of any reason to get a landowner tag unless you are looking for outiside help in controlling your deer population. If you are a farmer of 80 plus acres with too many deer without a house on it in the middle of nowhere then the free landowner tag would probably be appealing. Poachers are probably piss pounding it already, might as well put the state on the hook for injuries they may occur, let the non-poachers have a shot, and get yourself a free tag.

Occasionally I come across good land. Land next to ours sold last year. I tried my darnest to get Big Jerry to buy it. Most good land never makes the market. If it is listed it is sold within the day.

Deer are acting very weird right now. If they move, cautious, sometimes walking very slow, other times trotting right to the middle of the food source.
Making it tough to get anything with 30 yards.
