That's an impressive piece of equipment to get 5 acres cleared in 5 hours time. The birds will have a few new strut zones and bugging spots as well.

Batman.....did you have many large stumps to grind up? Looks like mostly smaller size brush and trees from the video. How wide is that head? Did he get a couple inches below the surface?......i.e.: can you run a disk, tiller or planter over the ground he worked???
Are you planning to plant clover on those new lanes?

Could not drive my mule anywhere as the Stumps were everywhere. Red pine and aspen/oak up to 15". They were 5 years old and the machine took care of them nicely. The live aspen shredded more instead of being 'chipped'. Head is about 7 feet wide. I will hand remove some bigger limbs left, limbs in low spots etc but. I could run a disc now but it would beat it up pretty good. It works the dirt but he does not like to run the teeth in the dirt. Wears them down faster. Straight carbides will work better for mixing dirt he claimed and we ran mostly the smooth blade teeth as they are cheaper. $900 for a complete set of teeth replaced. I could clover/rye/turnip as is but will be taking some time so I can edge with corn for a screen. Going to try get a lime truck in as I will be needing a lot. After watching him go I would not try a bobcat with forestry head on my own on this stuff. Big assed machine.

^ Thanks. Good reporting! It looks as though that machine could travel through some wet areas without much of a problem......like a swamp edge and such.

Brooks......check out Huls Brothers Trucking out of St Joseph or Avon MN. They are the largest ag lime truckers in the state.....and only sell full truckload quantities. I believe they also have spreaders to rent.....but they may only be large spreaders (??) They do have a website - google is your friend.

Had a mini tour of Brook's land today to see what that muncher did to his land. Then had a mini tour of my property with Forester Al, Brooks and Stu......to confirm my plans for mulching stumps and making shooting lanes and food plots. I likely will end up with two large food plots (3 acres on one place and about 5 in another place) as well as some clover trails. Putting my final plan together this weekend and hope to have the big forestry unit here within a week or so. A BIG THANKS TO AL, BROOKS, and STU for coming to my place and putting their wisdom and advice out there. If anyone is contemplating this mulch plan.....stay tuned. I will likely do some video and pics. Also anyone interested is welcome to stop up for a look. Kinda exciting to start with a reasonably blank sheet of paper and make a new plan for my land. (and lotsa work staring at me too)

^ Thanks Stu.
That big mulching machine will be at my place within the next week or two (at the latest). I wonder if anyone is interested in doing something like this? or seeing it in operation? If so, you are welcome to come and look at the process and what it does when he gets to my place.
I likely will be kinda busy that day trying to instruct the operator of the forestry muncher.......but anyone wanting to see while in operation (or after its done) can PM me for directions and times. Al told me this is the largest forestry muncher in northern MN.

I saw an ad in the Litchfield paper where someone has a muncher, but it did not look as big as the one Batman had the video of. still an option, if someone needs a number.
