You might be pleasantly surprised at some of the elevations in MN.... We dont have "mountains", but some pretty nice elevations in places. My hills and other glacial features greatly impact deer movement. Especially buck movement during the rut. The hills here really affect movement for sure but, the bucks drag their feet year round instead of just during the rut when they’re tired out. It seems the bigger the more they drag. But, even young spikes will drag their feet verses the does. It’s very evident on late spring and early fall snow falls of 1/2”.

Older/larger bodied bucks will oftentimes drag their feet in snow in the woods here. Not so much in more open areas or when there's no snow.

Linda Sweet appears to be a late hanger.

^^^We ate most of the Linda Sweet fruit this year. Right now, the only L.S. fruit we get are from one limb on a Frankentree. I do have another L.S. grafted to a wild crab, but that one will likely take a few more years to come into production.

Two years ago I picked them too late and they were mushy and not very tasty. Last year, I picked them in September and let them ripen in the crisper for a couple weeks. They were pretty good. Certainly not a top ten kind of apple/crab, but at least worth eating anyway. They would likely be a good addition to sweet cider

The harvest date indicates why I like Kerr Crabs. They ripen about the 3rd week of October and have held fruit into March in some years.

How many gallons (approximate) should a guy water around a tree to equal 1 inch of rain ? I don’t know the answer, but it would depend on the size of the tree and how far the roots reach horizontally. I am seeing root sprouts popping up and two of the trees have them a bit beyond the reach of the limbs. I used to dig those root spouts and replant, but decided to quit at my age.

I don't know the answer either, but I'd guess it to be in the hundreds of gallons for a 5+ year old tree.
Frequent, light watering could actually be detrimental to a tree in the long run. Infrequent, deep watering is the way to go.
